Do you know that the "Meat and bone meal" in Ol Roy is anything from 4 D discards to dead cats and dogs from the animal shelter. Killed with phenobarbital. Which doesn't cook down or out in processing.
I get the willies just walking past that crap in the store.
I'm not a raw feeder (But i think it's an awesome idea where your can) But i feed better food to my rats then Ol Rotten Roy. My dog deserves better too.

The problem with Ol' Roy Complete and Purina Dog Chow Complete is that they aren't complete. The label is a lie. Dog's can't eat the ingredients in those two dog foods and do well. AAFCO is an example of letting the inmates run the asylum. The truth is that many dogs will get very sick eating either Ol' Roy Complete or Purina Dog Chow Complete as their only food source, the majority of dogs will barely survive on it, and a very few will do great eating the garbage. The listings of protein, fat, and carbohydrates on the label are a fantasy .. no dog can digest those ingredients and derive that nutrition from that dog food. Most of the ingredients are no more than 50% digestible by a dog. The example of submitting a dog food made out of shoe leather, motor oil, and sawdust that will pass AAFCO analysis ( with added vitamins ) is a true one. Most dry dog food kibble that is extruded has been through so much heat processing and manufacturing damage that vitamins and minerals are added at the end of the production process to bring back those easy to reach levels to label requirement. Then cheap fats and synthetic flavors are sprayed on the dog food so that the dogs will eat it. Truth in labels regarding contents and sources for both human and pet foods is badly needed because at present the government lets the corporations do whatever they want and claims the fox can watch the hen house.

True Bubba, Purina is a chicken feed company. And they still feed our dogs like they are feeding chickens. (Who are also omnivores.) I just got back from the Caribbean, where the average dog eats trash, shit and what they can catch and this time the local street dogs were looking pretty good. (Vets had come through and given them all shots and treatment for mange.)
But i want my processed dog food to list what animal the meat came from.
