I disagree that the elbows wouldn't pass SV. SV grades; OFA simply passes or fails, based on any change they see. Hence my comment initially. The dog does not have and will likely NEVER have an elbow issue- it just doesn't have a 100% perfect joint as shown on radiograph. I would never ever waste my own money or put a dog under anesthesia just to move from a fair to a good or whatever- that's just nonsensical. Passing is passing. It's not a contest. It's about (supposedly) breeding healthier, sounder dogs, and in that regard, difference between a fair and good rating means zilch. Hell, just send the same x-ray on a different day and maybe get another rating. However, in this particular case, the positioning is most definitely enough to influence the rating. Not only is the pelvis asymmetrical, but more importantly even, the knees are not rotated inward at all, nor are the legs perfectly straight or parallel. The kneecap on the hip that looks the worst is so far rotated OUTward that it looks like it's trying to escape!
Here is a horrid x-ray: feel free to give your rating.

I often wonder how vets can take such horrible x-rays...& am thankful for my vets every day!
My guess-assuming the dog in Jen's x-ray is 2+years & that a correctly positioned x-ray was submitted-is that he probably went good.

Just for peace of mind, as I suggested earlier, Tuesday the expert will take a look at the x-rays that were done by another vet and if it could have been better with better positioning then do another x-ray then and see what the outcome will be. Will definitely keep you all posted.
Again...a sincere thanks to ALL OF YOU for using your valuable time to express your thoughts.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Peace!!!!

Candace, she was over 3 when that was taken (with a previous owner). I took them again at 5 because obviously, no one was going to submit THAT to OFA. Here are the new films. FYI- she has some sort of past pelvic injury preventing perfect straightening of her pelvis. My guy is typically 100% perfect on positioning- Eden is a dog that cannot be straightened.
Yardie, keep us posted. I don't love the dog's hips, but I wouldn't worry about it for anything but breeding. Until we see what we need to see, we can't really gauge just how bad or good they are. I think it's a dog where positioning is really important. Best of luck!

The dog in the first x-ray is mine and here are the new x-rays. They are very different. Let me know it your opinions are the same. Thanks

I probably would still not use this dog for breeding. Mild HD would be my guess. Best of luck though Nan
