Seresto Flea Collar and Seizures ? - Page 2

My version of the above is 1) I don't give heartworm medication, as the dogs in my area with heartworm pretty much all got it while vacationing in a warmer climate, and 2) I only give flea medication when my DOGS HAVE FLEAS! I can usually tell right away by their behaviour, and apply Advantage, then vacuum all rugs and furniture to nip the infestation in the bud. I my dogs don't let me know, the fleas let me know...they LOVE to bite me!

Is there a recall on these collars? Anyone had a positive experience ?

A lot of people in the club I train in use this collar and are pretty happy with it =S actually didn't ever tried it on any on my dogs, but can remember at least 1 border collie, 2 golden retrievers, and 4 gsd that use it and are all ok with it, and the owners say it works really good with fleas and ticks...

Did the happy people with Seresto collars wear the collar?? If it is so safe put one on your arm and wear it for a week. The dogs don't get to tell how they "like" the collars and the problems they encounter wearing them .. and even if they could the owners and vets would not listen as there have been serious side effects reported in the thousands from Seresto collars and imidacloprid. Imidacloprid and the family of pesticides that it belongs to are neurotoxins and are at the heart of the death of bees and beneficial insects ( colony collapse disorder ).

Read the 1 and 2 star ratings on Amazon (20%) for Seresto .. almost all 1 star ratings (14% and over 500 dog owners) reported serious side effects and most were neurological.  Seresto caused seizures, lethargy, decreased appetite and allergic reaction which in many cases led to huge vet bills with no cure other than simply removing the Seresto collars.  Would you take a drug for fleas that the science said has a 1 in 7 chance of making you seriosly ill and a 1 in 5 chance of making you have very irritating and life changing side effects.  If not then don't do the same to your dog in the name of convenience ( Seresto lasts 8 months ).

As a flea collar it works. Easy to use and at the end of the day not that expensive. However after my 2 yr old collie had worn it for a month he started to have increasingly worrying episodes of lethargy, lack of appetite and lack of thirst. He went from being the type of collie that was extremely happy and one you couldn't tire to being like an old dog, unable to even complete a 20 minute walk without having to lie down and rest taking an hour to complete a normal journey of 5 minutes.
He went to the vets and was treated with steroids (in case it was a skin allergy) - lungworm treatment (test then proved negative) chest x rays and lung swabs and 2 lots of blood counts - nothing showed up. He seemed to pick up and then relapsed again today I got desperate and started reading on line and saw that there were many dogs with similar symptoms - the overall conclusion was that it was the collar. I immediately took it off. This all happened today and I will report back over the next few days/week. The collar as I said works - but when you think about it - Constantly putting poison into your pet's neck day after day for 8 to 9 months is insane! I wish I had been intelligent enough to look at reviews first. It may well be fine for some but there are too many dogs out there that it is not fine for.

I'm not saying It is good, I'm just saying that there is dogs that it does not seem to have side effects... I have been learning a lot about this stuff, especially on this forum, and learning that this pesticides are very dangerous and I have taken off my dogs all the collars, and told my family to do the same, so I do believe that this is has bad as it is said, he was asking if there is ANY positive feedback, I am just telling that that particular dogs are fine, not one of the side effects. Whoever I do know one dog that got lethargic, don't know if it had anything to do with the collar but as the owner took it off the dog got better, so yes, I do believe it is bad for the dogs...

I guess best is not to risk it, use essential oils : Eucalyptus, Peppermint , Lemon grass , etc
