I appreciate the responses and emails you guys. I will say to the ones mentioning older dogs, or young adults, I am searching preferably for a pup. I've got a couple that I'll be talking to that you guys mentioned, but I've had a private message sent to me, of a litter I'm very interested in.

Experience is the best teacher but the tuition is very high. The GSD world will educate you but not without some unnecessary pain and expense. Trust no one totally and especially so veterinarians .. most don't know squat about GSD.

Google can be your friend. Google your breeder before buying.

DEFINITELY google before buying. Google could have saved me a big heart ache with my last pup. Even big name kennels need to be googled. What you might see/learn will surprise you.

Being new here...what is the general requirement for recommending a breeder? I've been on other forums where just hearing a name/seeing them post online was enough to recommend a breeder and I thought that it was not a high enough standard to be recommending breeders. So on here, what is the general experience level needed with the breeder or their dogs in order to recommend them to others?
