Well, they can't guarantee that they can find anything on a necropsy because most often they can't.. so, don't blame them there but the cost is ridiculous.. just absurd.... My vet does them for free because they always have new staff members who are itching to do that kind of stuff and I used to work there, so we have a bit of a different relationship than a lot of others.. Even UConn charged a very minimal amount.... Good that she is eating well and the room doesn't seem overly warm... my experience with a larger box, was that was what made Mom so agitated.. think ours was 5x5 and she was a big girl but with a small litter she just didn't feel safe I guess.. We put them all in the bottom half of a 500 varikennel.. she got much better but was always anxious and liked to move them around. I couldn't stand it anymore and stopped breeding her too.. I wish I had something more to tell you..
