What I meant is...if animal control came out, then they would see you in violation if you had too many, then they would be definate trouble rather than help.

Id move if your renting this is not a good situation aat all...u can raise children or pets in this kind of stress atsmosphere.....I had a family move in next to me and before they move a trailor(horrified me but in the country u cant stop it) and i wrote them a certified letter telling them I was a kennel of gsds and I train up into the night hours and the barking was not to be an issue, I was here before them and they had better think twice about this lot ...they ask me what I was gonna do to keep my K-9's in my place and from coming over the fence...I said for 14 years here or in Galveston County Ive never had a dog go across a fence.. but this fence around my 3 acrs is a cattle fence with the squares u can reach thru....then the bombshell hit....we have a 2 year old and a 4 year old...I almost died right then and from that day forward I operated in prison so to speak. I could no longer leave a dog out when I went anywhere and I couldnt have two dogs out without staying outside the whole time they were. out.....so about 9 mos later the man backed into my fence and i yellled at him ,,"whoa, you just knocked my fence sideways , are u gooing to fix this? O yes mam....Im gonna quit work to stay home to watch my kids because the boy down the road came down here and held my 5 years old boy over the fence by his heels to see if your dog would attack him and my wife, who is quite larger than large..cant stay awake during the day to watch the kids....on about that time I had my first coronary......I hooked up my trailor and to Lowes and Home Depot I went and in three trips came home with $6,000 of board fencing and posts and concrete and my son in law and a friend got started.....for 9 months I had put up with shoes, jars sticks, food and u name it, even dirty panties throw thru my fence at the dogs, and things I probably didnt even know where being done...shot by a bb gun also...I called the sheriff dept and reported the incident, as if i had not and it happened again, I would be at fault...come to find out, this incident happened about 2 months before and they didnt want me to find out because of Child protection agencies..investigation,....and that is exactly what happened......the sheiff report to the school athorities the name of the boy victim and the names of the two brothers who held him over my fence....I do not think any action was taken but I have a board privacy fence all the way down that side of my property...The kids still tease the dogs thru the fence and Ive even caught them climbing on ladders and things to get to the top of fence...I put no tresspassing signs on the side facing their property for my protection and left the cattle fence in place also....I have no other neighbors on any side or across the street all woods thats why I bought the place......the trailor is 3 feet from my fence and they said they did that so the kids wouldnt play on that end...and their bedrooms are on the othere end...so they are not bothered they have three stray dogs, no tags no shots fleas and illegite pups all over.....needless to say when they come over in front of my place they take a ride to the shelter or ARP a rescue place...so I would move I cant I own my place lock, stock and barrel...but my life is not as easy as it once was here.....but I deal with it...

I rent as well, but luckly, my landlord loves me! :) Unfortunately, I have one neighbor that does not like me, and does anything in the world to tick me off. She will deliberately walk right up along the fence line (sometimes with her dog) to get to her brothers house. After asking her atleast a dozen times in the past 2 yrs, to PLEASE stop, find a diffent route, it was a matter of common courtsey and her not complying, I contacted an attorney. (you have to remember that she's NOT walking on my property, she's walking on her brothers, which backs up to my fence) On advice of my attorney, I started to video tape her on her little "walks". She was outraged and even cussing me out on tape!! LOL She even called the Sheriff on me. The officer that came out talked to us both. When he came over to my house, he began to understand MY outrage. See...the officer that came out was the K-9 officer! rofl He told me that he "had" to go through the motions of telling me what "could" happen if one of my dogs got out and bit her or her dog, etc...(he was smiling the whole time) I told him that if this person needed to be "educated" on this breed, I would be more then happy to do so....his reply...."oh please, let me"! :-) At which point he did! And she was not very happy with the outcome either! He told her that what she was doing was no better then a 5 yr old poking a stick through the fence and teasing an animal! :-) I contacted my landlord that same day and requested to be able to put up a bigger/better fence. They have no problem with it. But even better....that woman hasn't walked my fence line since!

This could be a bad scene for you since you rent and are limited to what you can do with the property. Also if you make too much noise the landlord might get fed up and tell you and your dogs to find somewhere else to live. I agree with the others-AVOID ANIMAL CONTROL! You may think at first they will help your case but in the end it may turn around and bite you and the neighbor both. If your landlord agrees to a 6ft privacy fence, I'd get it up fast if you intend to live there for awhile. Ours has the lock on the inside of the gate so no one can get to the dog. We've also had a "neighbor" problem-different kind of problem, but none the less we had cameras installed. You can get a system at Sams Club that works pretty good if you have someone to install it it'll cost you about $1,000. It comes with the DVR to record, 4 cameras and the monitor with a 4 split screen. People that know your house has a dog and cameras are less likely to come around your place. At this point I'd let things just die down with the neighbor and avoid further altercations. You apologized, no serious injury was done; not much more she can expect you to do. Put your checkbook away, sounds like she's just looking for an opportunity to make a couple bucks. Some folks are just like that.
