Just to be clear I do not agree with name calling or belittling a person and won't be party to that. (well I try.  Occasionally I fail) But that is who I choose to be.  Some choose to be arrogant know it alls, That to is their choice.  Some choose to be professional instigators.  Regardless if you are on a forum board or in person that is just a reality.  I personally don't have a problem with any of that especially if it is a true reflection of who they are and not hiding behind some made up name.  For instance Prager has a very abrasive personality.  But it is who he is.  I can deal with that, and have dealt with a lot worse on a daily basis.  I would sit and talk with him and have a good time.  No problems because I know what I am getting into before I start.  And have the ability to walk away at anytime.  In other words I'm more in agreement with gsdadmin.  I would prefer everyone to use their real name.  I have more issue with someone hiding behind made up names then what they say.

and for those that don't know  McIntyre is my last name.  the rtdm is the first initial of the first name of those in my immediate family.

Just wanted to see if you guys are ready. Being governed by the TOS in OT isn't really going to change much, except maybe the name calling. All the topics already being discussed would not change.

Travels,

I have in the past asked the same question and received basically the same reasons not to use it, so I was pretty confident that I knew the reasons of the why or why not.

I am curious why admins names aren't known.  To me it would give legitimacy to them.  I look forward to meeting many on this board.  How would I know if I met admins that I respect or even go out of the way to meet them if I don't know who they are?

I don't think posts should be edited period! I would rather them be deleted all together first. I don't like the idea of posts being altered in a way that misrepresents the original ,,, jmo

Trust me Reggie you don't know any of us and you probably will never meet any of us. The majority aren't even in the US. I have picked people who aren't really involved heavily in the dog world but have knowledge of many things. I don't even know the other admins. A majority I don't even nor do have a need to know their real names.

I don't think Oli would allow us to use real names. I know I would never use my real name here. There are plenty of reasons why we wouldn't which I am not really going to get into here. Do you reliaze I had a whack job here sending me messed about shit about my dead mother, imagine if he had my phone number and address. I don't need the hassles the middle of the night calls, emails to my private account, people hassling on other sites I am an admin or member of, matter of fact I promised my wife I would never divulge our names here. She especially does not need to deal with the stress here. She is an admin here who had to walk away because she just doesn't want to deal with it all. Oli is well aware that my wife is an admin here in case anyone wants to know.

I know Ruger but isn't deleting the whole post changing the whole threads meaning in a round about way. Once we delete a whole post every post after that post could possibly have to be deleted to keep the thread readable? Then instead of dealing with one mad member we are dealing and explaining to 1 to 10 mad members? If it changes the meaning so be it, because we are adults here who know how to read the TOS and what is appropiate to post and what really isn't, IMHO.

actually I know a few people who either post here or have posted here.  I was just going along the thinking of not hiding behind fake names.  I could see using admin names when dealing with issues that concerned disciplinary actions.  But if they were posting otherwise then use their own names and no one would know that the poster was also an admin.  I know several other boards use this.

I tried it here but people eventually guessed which I guess in my eyes is worse than the alternative. Maybe I will have to give it another shot but tell who I am up front. I really don't see how that will make much difference but might be worth a try.
