What a wonderful person that did that for Mer! It truly IS the way that God works, those were HIS words and that person just wrote what the good Lord wanted them to.
Blessings to you and your family. I bet this is a letter that you will put in your childs memory book to have to look back on some day. And yes your beautiful dog will be there waiting for you.
