Q Man

by Q Man on 04 July 2014 - 22:07

When I sell a dog I tell the buyers that "This is MY dog for it's LIFE"...I am selling him/her but it's still MY dog until he/she dies...I want to know where they are and how they're doing...

"Dogs ARE NOT my business...They are my pleasure & life"...I love 'em all and want to know about them FOREVER...

I applaud this breeder for his determimedness...This is what it's all about...

Do you have her name and address? Post that here so people can keep and eye out for the pup?

Post a thread - have you just  bought an 8 mo old from this lady - please contact me

Not that it will do you much good but her PM on the db is still active see http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/userinfo.html?userid=25889

as blitzen so nicely suggested a bit of research of the user name should have raised some real red flags

she apparently also has Rotties - maybe post on their board looking for her see http://de.pedigreedatabase.com/white_shepherd/picturegallery.viewgroup?gid=42910

or the owners sellers or breeder of this dog might be of some help

http://is.pedigreedatabase.com/picturegallery.viewgroup?gid=19978

or this malinois https://is.pedigreedatabase.com/picturegallery.viewgroup?gid=41764

quite a collection of dogs! Sound awfully like the worst kind of broker - they lie thru the teeth about wanting a dog forever and then quickly wholesale it for a fast profit

Have you tried tracking the phone number or address to see who and what shows up

Kevin Kinker - is that you? Was she/he using your youtube video? If so put her name Cricket von Kinhaus out there - it may be on some of the paperwork

Did you have a written contract stating the dog could not be sold or rehomed without first giving you the opportunity to refund the buyers money minus attendant expenses?

BTW I believe if YOU pay to individually register a dog the name can not be changed without your provision. If a buyer registers the dog the name can be changed. The name also can not be changed once a dog has an akc title and since CGC is now a "title" ( NOT) and 8 mo old could certainly get it and that would be double insurance the name could not be changed.

For future reference when looking for an old or deleted ad drop link into google and then choose arrow under title for cached copy. Most of the time you can pull up the ad.

Bob, let me understand this...I hand you 2K-3K for a dog I just bought from you and you are going to tell me that its STILL and will always be your dog, really? Why am I giving you this money then, why am I going to pay for its food or vet and training, so YOU can enjoy it?

This is the mentality that kills me when it comes to certain breeders here, they feel they can dictate whatever they want after they made a business trasaction with a buyer. You want to always have it as your dog, please, keep it always and claim it as such, not profit from someone and still tell them what to do what is legally now their property.

Hi there kk:  Yellowrose here...long time no see or hear from   Are you still in same area ?..

Yes, Hired dog, some of us breeders are a little bit in Love with our pups we sell...we do not mean, it is our dog , we mean it is our dog but you just bought our dog and it remains in our heart and our bond with you the new owner , should love him/her enough also to let us keep in touch and let us know by email or phone or photos how the dog is doing...and its progress so we know how the breeding we took so much time and effort to make a pup the healthiest we could possibly give you , the new owner, so why not share info and kudos about the pup..YOU sure would call and shout out the BAD things , you find on the pup , so make it the other way around..,.let us share in your good days and the good news of how the pup is doing in your care...gosh is that so hard or so impossible to do...

JMO

Hi BOB!!!  HOPE your new home did not get a bit of the storm...I think you are far enough away...

YR, I have never had a problem telling a breeder what a great job they did with a dog I bought from them as far as its WORKING ability because everyone seems to be caught up in the health aspect, which is very good, but, without working temperament, you have nothing, however, this dog is now mine and I decide what it eats, if I breed it, with who, if I title it or work it and everything else that has to do with this dog, not the breeder.

For those breeders who claim that its a "labor of love" and they dont make money doing it, they should give their dogs away to people and make demands. For those who actually understand what a business transaction is and charge money for the dog, the demands and such stop when the check clears. You are correct, I have no problem telling a breeder about any problems that come up with a dog they bred and I payed money for, but, as mentioned above, I also dont have a problem extolling the virtues of said dog to anyone interested. Is that so hard or impossible to understand?

by RealDealGSD on 05 July 2014 - 10:07

I agree with Bob, YR and Hitchins. When a dog is sold it is no longer physically their dog. No you cannot dictate what the dog eats and is working in etc etc BUT IMO an ethical breeder will want to know where that dog is if dog is sold. To many breeders sell a dog and forget about it. I personally like to know where my dogs go even if they are sold by the original person I sold to. That's for dogs from my breedings and dogs I have purchased from someone and placed. It's not a crime to know where the dog is it's ethical and caring and responsible. JMO

Realdeal GSD, tell me, since you no longer own the dog and according to you cannot dictate anything over it, what difference does it make if you know where the dog is?

by Blitzen on 05 July 2014 - 13:07

I haven't bred a litter for many years. When I did I kept in touch with every buyer so I knew the status of the dogs' health and temperament. How else do you know the breeding was or wasn't a success and how to procede in the future if you don't know the results of each breeding? Sometimes knowing so much about those dogs was depressing. I ended up taking back a fair number of dog for various reasons, some I thought were valid - owner allergic to dog,  a divorce - some not so valid - dog is not big enough, dog is too big, dog opens window on second floor, goes out on the porch roof,  jumps to the ground, scales the fence and crosses a 4 lane highway. I buy my dogs now and like it when the breeders keep in touch so they know how those dogs are doing. IMO if you're going to breed and sell dogs, it's the right thing to do.
