That speaks volumes... Regardless of theory or fact... Good grief.

prager is right,, sometimes switching from puppyfood to seniorfood will do the job, but I would dump the food with non natural additives as the dogs body cannot egulate overdoses of non natural calcium etc, where the dogs body has no problem with overdoses of natural calcium, etc
I wouldnot cook but just switch to raw, this will not be a problem to do this, raw meat digest easer than kibble

Pups on crappy food, raw food, expensive food get pano. The pano will resolve regardless of what you switch to.
Yes, regardless of fact or theory...pano is a mystery to vet med, so it's all theory , otherwise there'd be a cure for it...it goes away without doing anything and it lingers for many months in some dogs on meds and switching food is coincidental.

Duke, according to what you are saying, it would seem that only dogs on "non-natural calcium get pano and that over feeding natural calcium to a pup won't cause any developmental problems? Not true.
I've seen dogs on raw develop pano, and dogs on crap food without added ca. And I have raised a whole bunch of dogs on commercial kibble and whole bunch on raw whole never developed pano. There is no magic bullet...most important is DO NOT ADMINISTER VAC WHEN A DOG IS HAVING A BOUT OF PANO. The rest is placebo.

Joan, I was founder and owner of first and largest supplier of BARF food in holland and seen tons of dogs getting rid of problems of pano after switching from kibble to BARF, also I am pretty well informed on artificial supplements in kibble and some minced meat foods and it is pretty obvious to me
I am in now way surprized that many vets will disagree, as many vets are sponsored by Royal canine, Pedigree, etc, its a money game
recently many dogs in belgium had epileptic attacs, vets blamed inbreeding etc, till it was found that all these dogs were feeding same brand of kibble and artificcial adittions were the cause
many of todays health problems in dogs are caused by kibble, shots, flee/tick and worm treatments

not only calcium, but all artificial supplements are not well or not regulated at all by the body of the dog,

Duke, I agree with you 100% about the shit in kibble....my point was that dogs who are not on it also develop pano. The pano will go away if you do nothing or it may linger for months if you do all you suggested.
I had a pup develop pano that lasted only two days...exray confirmed and I did nothing the vet suggested or prescribed. I am a firm believer that pano will self resolve as it is self limiting. I also believe that giving steroids only prolongs the issue as it is going to hang on and affect the dog when the meds are discontinued. I've seen this for over and over again for many years.I don't drink the koolaid any more. I would have a dog that's lame xrayed to positively diagnose pano, after that it is restricted activity until it self resolves.

The fact is, what causes this is the mystery, there is alot known about the disease itself.
The fact is, that the medicines that are prescribed are supposed to give relief to the dog, not cure the disease. It can be excruciating in some cases, and pain meds do help the quality of life. It is up to the responsible owner to limit activity.
Yes, the fact is hat this disease does have to run its course, there is no cure once it has started, but that does not mean that anti inflammatories can't or should not be given in extreme cases to ease pain.

OP might want to google: Hokamix.

Sheesh, I'm not talking t "extreme cases". They are not the norm. Most pano is minor. I have seen two dogs with extreme pano, and of course relief in the way of meds are needed. But to use anti-inflammatory steroids and analgesics routinely is not beneficial....
