What are your plans for the dog?  That will help people to know if you want a dog with off the wall drives or something that would be easier to live with in a home setting.

Well regardless of what the dog ends up doing, I still prefer a med/high to high drive dog that's clear headed. No hectic dogs or dogs that lose their mind the minute they're pushed a little.

Of course that's completely subjective as my high drive may be someone's crazy, unmanageable or anothers couch potato ;)

Just wanted to add.... I'm not in a hurry & will wait until the right dog comes along.

I've already looked at quite a few that weren't what they were said to be. I will be going & checking any promising prospects in person, so please stop trying to pass off your(general) garbage dogs. I won't fall for it!

hths, do you know the demand for LE dogs in that age/quality,and what they pay,  be prepared to pay big for quality in that age :)

Great point, Duke. People often don't understand that the seller would have to be insane to sell them a pup for $1500 -$1800 (what folks often think they should pay since it's a "puppy" ie, young, green dog) when LE will offer $4500+ for the same dog...and most  LE homes are pretty decent homes.

Not sure where I stated I expected to get the pup for close to the same price I would pay for an 8-12 week old pup?
I'm fairly confident my budget will allow the purchase of said pup/dog when I find it. Thank you though :)

I get so tired of people saying that these good German Shepherds are so hard to come by;

    Shit, in the last couple weeks we seen two wonderful examples of what dedicated breeders have,

Dukes pup is fabulous, as is crhuerta's

    And I am sure that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Seek, and you shall find

I often keep puppies back to raise and start for LE, though placed all but 1 of my last litter with working dog friends. I've only seen a few people that do this... not very profitable but putting hands on what I've bred is more important then money. My 9 month old fits your description to a tee, but he is not for sale, sorry :)

HtHs, no one said you said that. Duke simply ASKED if you knew, and I pointed out that he makes a great point. You do know, there are thousands of people reading these threads. The information is typically addressed with that in mind, not JUST the OP. Wink Smile
