Kari I couldn't find a way to do it either so I just modified my sign in name slightly and re-joined with the correct email addy.
LOL Shelley, you can have it all but the phone number on the board. Actually you already have my phone number:)

Good enough?

I'm not comfortable with having my email address exposed. Too many stalkers over the years from just listing my phone#. I do have a valid email address, which is registered here, and I don't post under any other screen name.
Some of the people on this board have my email address--we have corresponded.
I have no business to promote, and would be a fool to expose myself if not necessary. (Not in today's world, anyway.) I don't believe I have ever knowingly abused my anonymity, or would I in the future.
Funny, the last few days this subject keeps coming up. I have to wonder whether all these outlandish posts are about trying to influence Oli into succumbing to pressure and implementing new policies. This site wouldn't be as popular and would lose much input. Was that the intention? (my question isn't applicable to you, Shelley).

Shelly, I think that you make a good point and I do understand where others may apprehesive about releasing too much personal information. I think that a valid e-mail address should be a "must-have" for anyone to post on this board.
Of course if some are like Bob-O they can have many e-mail addresses available to them. In the case I present, the only thing in common is the computer from that the e-mails are sent and of course this is providing that one uses the same computer all of the time. Of course Bob-O is concerned about those tenents of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness so Bob-O tends to be a civil individual!
It will be interesting to see what changes present themselves when the new board is launched 100%. I remember that Oli spoke of a certain feature for blocking obnoxious posters, and I am sure that each of us has a hit list of who we wish to block!
I know that the Leerburg forum requires a name and address verification in order to post, and in the absense of using law enforcement tools I am not sure how this is done, aside from using a credit card number for verification. And that would be very intrusive to me. I don't think our physical addresses or telephone numbers need to be displayed, but there needs to be some controls in place.
It will be interesting to see what the brilliant Oli will come up with when he makes the new forum the only one.

I agree that the harassemnt is sad and that people take things much to far on here. I personally don't want anyone knowing my phone number unless I give it to them directly. This isn't because I have something to hide it is because I truly don't want people knowing my personal information on the internet.
Weeding out the negativity seems to be impossible but I am learning that if I just ignore peoples rudeness they tend to not continue badgering me.
I love coming on here and reading information about hot spots, working vs. show, testing but most important about the GSD itself. I may come out of here with a few enemies, but with the knowledge that alot of you guys offer me, the rest is totally worth it.
Thanks

Maybe some don't recall the harassment some endured on this board a year or so ago. It made the Brittany saga seem like a Disney flick. The perp was obviously mentally ill, had at least 4, 5 different screen names and was abusive to the point of being openly threatening. One poster, a very well meaning and kind hearted female who seldom posts here anymore was harassed to the point that much of her personal information was disclosed on this board including her country of birth, her work and home phone numbers, her place of employment and her position. I believe Oli was kind enough to remove it all. I was also stalked by the same person who fortunately did not have my correct name or private email addy, so could ferret out no personal information on me.
When a woman lives alone it is not a whole lot of fun to have to worry that the stalking will be taken beyond the cyber world. When a listed number is used to do a google search, the person's name, address and a map pinpointing the exact location of his or her home is made available. Try entering your own published number and see what you find.
If you sell puppies or services on this board then some of your information needs to be revealed here. That's the chance that one has to take to be a vendor on this board.
I own a breed board, we don't require identification for any new subscriber. However, I do moderate my board along with my co-owner. We enforce our TOS' and anyone who becomes abusive is either warned or unsubbed and banned.
Boards like this are all about moderation and about applying the TOS' equally to all acrossed the board. I do not know Oli personally, but from all accounts he is a fair man who will do what he can to get this breed board back on line.

Phone numbers?? Uh I don't think so. Not with some of the nutt balls that lurk on around here. I think the email address is bad enough but should be required.

As many of you already know, the main perpetrator of abuse and threats through his main stage name here and his many spoofs (new ones often appear when he is confronted to "defend" him) on this forum has been exposed by name and kennel by myself and others in the past. When confronted in any way this perpetrator of abuse and bullying gets hostile and appears to strike out with increasing distortion. Veiled death threats are then eventually made by this individual and his spoofs. His multiple spoofs can easily be documented and id'd by computer forensics known only to law enforcement and certain experts in certain segments of the computer industry if an investigation occurs after a complaint is made to law enforcement.
When challenged this man has refused to identify himself no matter what and claims that he already has when he hasn't. But now the curtain has been pulled back and the word is out. Increasing numbers in the GSD sport in the northeast have been spreading the word. That is how I found out, folks e-mailed me who he was and what he has been doing, and his patterns of abuse and bullying. That is why he has been kicked off a number of GSD related sites such as DDRlegends.com and has complaints on ripoffreport.com. Time will tell what Oli does and where this goes. Ridiculing others as personal attacks nor no valid reason and then presenting them as slick humor and sarcasm have no place on this or any forum and are actually cyberbullying. Making veiled death threats and terroristic threats against any one disgreeing with this man or confronting him are serious matters and should be dealth with seriously by Oli and everyone.
Posing it all as celery related doesn't in anyway mitigate the seriousness of this. Isn't it interesting that the same person abusing folks on this boatrd has been repeatedly accused of cheating buyers of his dogs?
A coincidence. I don't think so. It's something bully's do.
This matter may end up with Law enforcment if these patterns of abuse and bullying continue, especially if they continue to mock women who are overweight and those that are retarded. In the UK and scandinavia, bullying in the workplace is a prosecutable crime crime. Here cyberthreatening and terroristic threats and cyberharassment interstae can be prosecuted in some states. Recent interstate agreements have resolved many of the jurisdictional issues. It's only a matter of time. Anyone interested in the latest research on bullying and how it seriously harms many institutions can do a search on this topic. This field of study is now rapidly progressing. Suggestions are also given how to deal with bullies.

as a some what newbie, i just ignore the ignorant ;) posters here. the more you talk to them the more they come out and keep making stupid post. at times i wish this list had a "ignore" function where you can hide messages sent by those people who do not deserve a response.
take the advice of the good,
ignore the stupid,
ask someone else if you cant tell the difference.
just my 2 cents

jfletcher, just ignoring these abusive and bullying posts does not work. It was tried many times on this forum and the bully just increased the frequency of his bullying behavior. When someone demeans overweight women and retarded folks by their language, and keeps attacking certain vulnerable folks just to be "funny" on this site, forum users need to speak out against this.

I have a job that puts me in front of the public in a position of trust,(nursing),that also leaves me fairly exposed to all sorts of folks....mostly nice, but some otherwise, the otherwise tend to be REALLY otherwise....and I like a little anonymity...& I have an ex who can be unpleasant at times. So, I use my dogs' names mashed together, and I gave my info when I registered. I will not contribute to the threads that go off the deep end or attack anyone, my opinion is not so important that some one else should suffer for it! That's my 2 cents!jackie osborne
