Is the thread about Dillon or a plea to others for help paying for Dillon's $3500 surgery bill?? Link to a story below about a dog "abandoned" at a shelter due to no money to pay for vet bills.

bubbabooboo, this probably won't make any sense to you but I'll try. Jackie is battling cancer and has had a terrible time. Yet in spite of her awful problems, she took the time to post about Dillon and she is also worried to tears about another shelter dog, Lexi. This is why she is so strong--because she can get outside of herself no matter what and do her best to help others instead of collapsing in on herself. This is also why she is such a lovely compassionate person and why there have been a gazillion views of her thread about her fight against cancer. Also why she has so many fans including me and my girlfriend.
Now maybe you have something awful going on in your life but that's still no excuse for hijacking a thread aimed at helping a wonderful dog who has had a terrible time and needs help. You can crab all you want about vets in your own thread.
Helping an animal or person who desperately needs help, watching their pain and sickness and fear change into health and joy, and knowing that you helped make that happen is one of the best feelings in the world. I truly hope--and I am not being sarcastic or snotty here--that you will be able to experience this someday.

Team, I don't want to be antagonistic, and I know Bubba isn't everyone's favorite, but he is bringing up a valid point here... It is very important that rescues, shelters and the well-intentioned don't automatically assume because a vet appears sympathetic that they cannot hammer out yet a better price for treatment. "Can you do any better?" Is a remarkable phrase and may yield interesting results.
If we wish to help a dog, by gosh, help those of us who wish to help too, by being shrewd- even in the face of emotional turmoil. A demonstration of thriftiness when requesting a hand-out can be reassuring to potential donors and potentially increase revenue.
Vets can consider reducing margins in these dire cases or, like Doctors Without Borders, donate (like us!) their expertise as well as goods.
No harm in saying it...
I am very happy for, Dillon!

Thank you for helping Dillon Char! And to Bravo, perhaps you missed the post I made that explained the complexity of Dillons surgery, & the reduction of fees already given, & that the surgeons donated their time to care for Dillon...?
God bless those that help others in need, be they human or animal!!

Jackie, I had not seen your response to Bubba's concerns regarding vetinary charges, and thank you for pointing it out! I believe we are all pretty much on the same side here... Thank you for sharing a happier rescue story!

Bravo22, you're very welcome! I'm so impressed with AWSOM & their commitment to Dillon & other animals, & I'm so grateful that they are our local shelter! I can't help much, but if I can help spread the word, at least I am giving back in the small way I can. Thank you, jackie harris

FYI. The funding site takes Paypal and credit cards. Many prayers and wishes to Dillion. He seems to be on the road to recovery and a step closer to a forever home.

The surgery required for this boy was quite extensive and the vet fee doesn't sound out of line at all. Please keep us posted on his recovery, Jackie.

I will, & thanks for helping this sweet boy out! My granddaughter volunteered with this rescue through her Girl Scout troop in their kitty rescue, keeping the kitty cats cimplant & socializing with them 1 weekend a month. I will check for an update!
