Praying for Max and for you.

Thank you all.

Max is stable and back home; a little stoned from the pain meds.  No internal injuries were found.  Now we are on watch for bloat or asphication pneumonia (he was either knocked or jumped into a ravine with cold ice water left from our freeze).

I think we got lucky.  No more messing around.  I am installing an invisable fence as soon as I can get someone out here.

My Taz decided to walk out in front of a car not too long ago,
I posted that at the time;  he sat in the road and looked back
at the poor driver as if to say "Why did you do that to me ?".
Then he got up and walked away from it.  He'd been pushed
40 feet down the street.  Took him straight to the vet, he was
absolutely fine.  Maybe a bit sore and bruised for a couple of
weeks, but no internal injuries, no broken bones.  GSDs are a
strongly built breed !

The car wasn't so lucky, you should have seen the mess it made
of the front.  Luckily the driver's insurance covered it and I only had
to pay his £200 excess.

So I do know that Omg Smile feeling, Fawnda.  So glad to hear Max has no
internal injuries, it does show they can get away with it WonderingRed Smile.  He
is a bit younger than Taz, I think, so hope that is on his side.  L x

Fawn,

I am very happy to hear Max will recover. Yes, you got real lucky. You will not be sorry to have the e-fence installed. While there are dogs who will defeat such a system, I think Max will be the type of dog who will respect the e-fence boundary. Many posters, even one's I hold in high esteem are categorically against such systems.

However, an experience as you and Max have just gone through, it is literally a life saver. Understand the limitations of such a system and use it wisely, as you would with any tool, and you will be blessed with a certain type of peace of mind.
