Not even an admin? Come on lighten up. You are back and not many get banned forever. So, let me ask you this - how would you deal with unruly members. Members hell bent on passing around false rumors and made up stories about admins? Members who just want to give admins a hard time and act as if they are untouchable? Give me some ideas here and maybe we can do away with bans. What about the members who destroy pedigrees and cause all kinds of chaos, maybe we should give them a key to the backend and let them run wild.

Whether you believe this or not if I should get banned tomorrow I would move on and not even give it a second or third thought. I do not live for any site and I do not put that much faith in my ability to never be touched.

While there is some truth in there, you have still accomplished setting up a most admirable straw man.

If your last post was directed at me here is my response:

Sounds like Admin has a personal dilemma, I'm sure you and your cohorts  can resolve it. With your infinite wisdom.

No straw man here these things and more have actually happened. If you heard what has been spread around in the past and still is to this day it would make your head spin.

I look at it like this - this is not any members site and if a member continually disobeys the rules of the site and continually cuts down, berates and argues with the site managers/owners then really they don't want to be here and it becomes more of a distraction to others and causes what they crave and that is drama.

 I certainly know better than to even attempt to question your judgment on such matters, GSD Admin! And never on the OT!  I am doing my best to learn lessons by only doing those feats that are least successful, but once.


 

Yes, some of those things have actually happened, of that I am sure.  Of those, I am confident that certain actions did in fact needed to be taken.  Those instances in no way justifiy all of the actions, in every case, all of the time, any more than those particular cases model every case.

No kidding and not every case is treated the same - what would even give you this idea? We treat everyone the same until they continually crap on us and subvert the rules and then most of the time we still look the other direction until a member actually begs to have an admin action taken against them.

I myself will very rarely ever ban a member unless they keep pushing after multiple warnings. You can ask any admin or past admin they will tell you I am not in favor of banning members until a member just pushes to far. I have been begged by some admins to be harder on certain things and I continue to hold the line. I will admit I have been worn down at times by certain members but I generally bounce back quickly.

I have even banned rogue admins who have been hell bent on banning members or turning a blind eye to their friends while nailing the members they don't like for every indiscretion they can possibly come up with.

BTW, if your riddle has anything to do with some recent bans - then you are way off base as I am not the only admin who can ban members. We all can and again I am not very likely to ban many members - you really have to push to get me to ban you.

GSD, yes you are a big softie on banning, lucky I have no problem with doing it when the need arises, lol.

Soft - no. Like to debate - yes. I would much rather go back and forth than whip out a ban.
