Definitely agree about keeping stuff out... I've got a fully fenced yard, she's just such an athlete that she just goes right over it. She'd happily explore the neighborhood by herself if she could! I needed a back up system, and that's what worked for me. Again, its just an idea-- I had to try a bunch of things to find what worked for Val. You might find that a kennel works perfect for you :)

Bars are better than chain link wire. I had several dogs climbing up the chain link, and one male destroyed it completely.
The risk of injuries ( fractures from climbing and broken teeth from pulling ) is too high.

If there is at TSC (Tractor Supply Company) near where you are moving I would check out the welded wire kennels they sell.

Jyl:
I checked and there is no Tractor Supply or even a Rural King in Washington.  The electric is a great idea, but I want my dogs in kennels. I'll have a big garage/barn with cement floor to house the kennels in, It will also act as a second way to keep them in if someone climbs over a kennel. My Malinois has been kenneled  a lot before when he went to a trainers. I've also boarded both dogs in kennel runs at the vet and haven't had an issue. I'm going to slowly introduce them to the kennels. We're moving in a month so I still have some time to research ideas. Thank you to everyone for the info!!

PMWatch, where are you moving in WA? We have Del's or Wilco which are like a TSC. Both carry kennels. There are also a few other similar farm supply places. Our Lowe's just got a whole shipment of nice kennels in as well. Welcome to the Evergreen State.

I lived in Seattle for the last 9 years, but moved across the sound to Port Orchard this summer. If you are south or east of Seattle, there are many farm supply type business since horses and hobby farms are fairly plentiful in those areas.

I opted for the invisible fence option as well for my Mal.  He has great respect for the barrier and learned very quickly.  The downside is the fact that other dogs, people critters can come onto your property as someone already referenced.

I travel to Tacoma often on business - it is a beautiful part of the country.  Good luck with your relocation.

I bought two from Lowe's and my dogs destroyed both. Pretty much worthless if you have a dog who wants out, IMO.
Invisible fence offers no protection to your dog, and if they REALLY want to go through it they will, but won't come back through it.

gagsd4: Thank you for the info. My two have been good in kennels before without any destructive issues. They will be in a building with a cement floor as well, so there will be a second form of protection incase they escaped.
