I gotta wonder if we've lost Thanksgiving to the market, and sales.
Seems like Walmart went straight from Halloween to Christmas, without skipping a beat.
And how could anyone miss out on those Thanksgiving day sales.
Now two cities here in my area are having Christmas parades before Thanksgiving, one actually ending in a fireworks display.
Hell of a thing.
I dunno, I kind of like a traditional Thanksgiving with family.

Family! ! No shopping!,,I love tradition,,!!,,,It is getting harder to keep up those tradtions though..We are celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow because me, my mom, my brother, and my sister in-law are all nurses who are working Thanksgiving day,,How is that for tradition...

So many people have work the holidays doing various service work and I think they deserve some thanks too.
But no one should have to work a holiday just because someone's profit margin demands it.
I hate seeing someone working in a convenient store on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

i tried really hard to make plans to go somewhere but all log homes by the lake are booked, most hotels on the beach are booked...who the hell spends holidays on the beach and at the lake??? i mean if i get vacation i want to go somewhere....but i guess its family this year....a few years back my house was picked as the house to go to...i didnt have time to cook for 16 people...so i ordered chinese...and few pizzas....i thought it was great...LOL...no mess, no fuss and easy clean up... :) i have not been asked to host the thanksgiving since...

Ours is so steeped in what is required. The roles are clearly defined. There is a standard set that must be maintained. I won't go into it. If anything, I help set the bar.

well....i was volunteered for desert this time...so i will swing by Costco tomorrow...LOL
i am a great cook, i just dont cook what i am told....i dont know why some things are just cannot be "suggested" to me, it's like declaring war...cooking is one of those things...if you say ":i leave it in your hands"...I will feed an army with masterpieces...u tell me what to make....it is going to be store bough...you would think after years and years of knowing me my family would just go along....LOL

I've been in Florida my whole life, but I remember when I will in high school that around now it would have been cold outside; now the weather is either hot, cool, or rainy. I miss the cold days and being able to stay home wrapped up in a throw or blanket with hot cocoa and a good show on TV. With the smell of the fresh Christmas tree. Now, I work in retail and work most holidays so I don't get the days before or after a major holiday off. I can't wait to finish school so I can get a job where I don't have to work every holiday.
