never thought it would be a simple network but i still don't buy the technical argument

Do you watch the news?  Data/network security is a huge concern.   Hackers get into secure networks all of the time.  They would love to skew voter results.

banks, NSA, stockmarket...altho not immune to hacking seem to get by.

Get by??  Again, do you stay up-to-date on what is going on in the world, like identity thefts from hackers getting into people's bank accounts, medical records, etc.? How about all of the money companies pour into cyber security?  Not to mention, the special cyber security task forces government agencies employ to deal with daily cyber attacks.

ok you must be right. the technology is not good enough to avoid being corrupted. of course good old manual corruption, manipulation, bribery, back door deals....etc never happen.

Think Tribal.

Imagine the social implications of that, especially during a rapid transition.  I'm good, but there would definitely be wholesale weeping and gnashing of teeth.

It's not for now, but for later.
See if you can find any tribal leader who ever harmed his own people in any way, shape, or form.

The key phrase there is "his own".  The issue of depravity doesn't go away (not that you inferred as much), as much as it becomes a non-issue.  In that setting, the drives play out in conflict between the tribes.

What issue of depravity?

I'm just talking about a system of governing a people, not all peoples.

Man isn't going to ever change his most basic of instincts.

Show me true democracy anywhere on the planet.

I just read about the great Zulu warrior leader, Shaka who killed his own half brother who was destined by birthright to rule. And Shaka himself survived two assassination attempts before the third succeeded.

Assad's brother died in a car accident.

Point is I don't believe in the illusion of democracy.
