Hi again and thank you very much on your comments.

Hiking trip will be taking place in Canadian Rockies which is a well know Grizzly Bear habitat.
We will not be hunting of fishing on this hiking trip, hence suggestion to feed my dog with that type of food is not feasible. We humans will be eating pre made dehydrated food.
Human dehydrated food will cost us between $8-$10 per human per meal.

When it comes to the food which I plan to take for my dog on this trip, I am presently leaning towards ZiwiPeak.
Only reason for me to lean towards this type of food is that it appears that this food does not need to be rehydrate before consumption. (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Second option would be K9 Natural Lamb - as this food has the most protein and fat content according to their guarantied analysis data.
Also smallest pack of K9 food (500 grams - slightly over 1 pound) makes 2 kg of rehydrate food. As my dog eats around 1 kg of food per day this smallest pack of 500 grams would last us for two days.
Both, ZiwiPeak and K9 Natural smallest packs would last us for two days. They both cost about the same.....($30)

Funny thing is that this type of dog food costs more than pre made dehydrated food for humans per meal per day....how does this make sense?

Will be looking for more options on the dog backpack....

Ziwipeak and others, are so expensive because they  come in a shiny wrapper.   Chrome plated crap in a shiny bag. $124.00 for 11 lb!!! Sounds like dog food for  suckers to me.

Your gonna take your dog into bear country huh.....sounds like a brilliant idea.

If your buying MRE's you'll always pay too much....LOL
It's as bad as buying ammunition right now.

Feed the dog the same thing you eat and he'll be fine, pack out what you pack in.

Good luck.

When the bear chases your dog at night he will run into your tent with the bear on his ass for you to help him.
No,  just kidding, I have camped in bear country with my dogs. Just keep them in the camp and do not allow them to roam through the night. Obey the safety rules of food storage and carry S&W 500 MAG. ...all the time.

The dog, bear, and tent story sounds just like a real life situation I read about years ago in Montana, it made the papers.
It did not turn out well.

Yes, true story.

I think I kept the newspaper article.
The story I'm thinking of was over twenty years ago though.
The campers pretty much broke all the rules so it was no wonder they had trouble.

More like 25-30 years. I lived in Wyoming at that time and story was fresh.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Will definitely not be trying to break any hiking rules in the bear country :) It helps that there will be people on this trip who are hiking for over 15 years in this area plus 2-3 years with their dogs.

Anybody else with any dog backpack suggestions?

I was there looking to buy property, didn't work out.
There was a picture of the guys bite marks in the paper, from back bone to sternum.
The dog brought the bear to the tent causing the first attack which was minimal.
He had fired his .44 pistol at the bear which prompted a second attack which was not so minimal.
