I wouldn't say there is a particular line he should be coupled with but I should note that the Czech and Slovaks did use Nick and Olex with good success. Naspo Kennels and Egidius to name a few. This wasn't as common then as it is now but as I said they use both Olex and his father with very good results. Probably better results with Nick...Think one dog I think of is Nike Egidius who was used with both dogs. At any rate, the combinations you use him with would really depend on your personal goal as a breeder in the results you want to produce in a breeding. ie (more sporty, serious type, etc) Knowing that he brings drive and seriousness, some would be tempted not to use him with a "civil" female. To each his own....

From what I have learned, I suggest to anyone interested in using Olex, to make sure he has sired recent litters, or there are current pregnant females to him. Or documented proof of actual and recent semen evaluation testing.

Bitches that already have a high pain threshold and extreme prey should avoid these lines. I have a friend who has a Korbelbach bitch that was to be bred to Olex and when they looked at her qualities they said don't do it. He jumped on a plane in Europe and flew to California. He bred to Tarzan Tiekerhoek and took a bitch from that breeding to the worlds last Oct. At 31 months of age she was in 3rd place after the 2nd day. She had trouble in tracking on the 3rd day. A good breeding where both complimented the working aspect. The scariest dog I have ever seen was an Olex son. He had absolutely no respect of any correction. It just made him mad to the point that he WOULD kill you. Be very carefull of the bitches that are bred to Olex and be prepared to keep back the real strong pups in case the must be put down rather than placing them with handlers that will get schredded.

Olex sired my litter out of Wolfin vd Wannaer Hohen, born on 12/24/06 (VERY RECENTLY), as I mentioned already. The semen analysis was done more than once at my vet's and was done correctly each time. He has been checked again in the last couple of weeks before breeding another female and the results are the same as previously (at yet another veterinary clinic). Also as already mentioned, my vet will provide his analysis info upon request to serious inquiries. All information given by me is accurate, documented and available to those who ask. Diane

Owning several Olex daughters ourselves and having seen several here for training as well as handlers that I know with Olex progeny, I have yet to have, meet or hear of any handler agression issues. We simply don't have room for such a dog in our kennel nor do we care to produce such. Karla Calderon www.schutzhundsportdogsinc.com

My Olex daughter has given me a good hard look after a hard correction but has never bitten or offered to bite me. She did go after (but missed) a TD that was going to demonstrate something with her. Her pain threshold is very high and she will not back down from a fight. We work far more on her prey drive than her aggression which she already has plenty of. She's just had pups by a "sporty" male and I think it'll be a nice balance.

Diane uses the same vet that we use. Excellent vet, very ethical and thorough. Diane did post the results from that 1st analysis the other month due to some questions arising out of what he was currently producing. The owner of Olex is being very selective on who he is breeding Olex to.

And undoubtedly, the current owner being "very selective" will, predictably, lead to the dog (and his fertility) being slammed, slandered and questioned all over the Internet. Sadly, it seems to be a pattern, once a well-known stud dog is brought to America, especially when the owner really is selective. The ultimate proof will be on the field in a couple of years. :-) Nia

Well I will compliment him for at least being "very selective" unlike many of the greedy breeders who many times are total greed pigs who get these dogs and not make them available at stud to outside bitches simply so they can monopolize the market. That all comes down to money regardless of one's opinions on this. Then often the females they have one can only hope to get something nice from the breedings. But would be nice to see a couple actual litters (more than one pup) produced from Olex. Super nice dog. Would be awful if he is just about near "breeding retirement"

by LuvCzechDawgz on 22 January 2007 - 16:01

SKI Since you seem to be more "informed" than some of us on Olex, do you know of any litters he has on the ground now? Diane, Was the litter you speaking of you had from him only one pup? Guess there shouldn't be a problem saying this if there is nothing to hide. Just the reality of things sometimes
