" Chances are bitches will not meet your criteria, when part of the issue is the male does not meet criteria?  Please explain how the male is not proven yet you will judge the females to see if they are good enough? "

CaveCliff - you are living in a free country, able to choose whatever you want to do  - I only wish dogs would have this choice, too.

Why don't you call it what it is?  You are fostering the dog until a suitable home can be found.

What is disappointing is that you are considering trying to make money off the dog while you are fostering it.  At least have the decency to wait until the dog is yours and a permanent part of your home before you start peddling him like a whore?  Animal or not, have some common decency.

Fostering is not about doing everything to make a buck on a dog. If that were the case I would have been rolling in the mula after fostering all the animals I have instead of donating so much of it never to be reimbursed.

He only took this dog to see how much money he could squeeze from it.

I must be tired or something but the only thing I see wrong with any of this is that you took the dog with the intent to flip him again. Its really stressful on dogs to move from one home to another so when I read the post initially, my heart went out to the dog. Your judging a dog on a few days. Not an accurate guess of how he really is because you haven't given him enough time to settle. He could be a really great dog.

The rest of it ....really guys.... its done all the time. I would say to you Cavecliff, that if the only shepherds you have ever been around were whiny, then you havent been around too many. Ive been in shepherds since my 20's (now reaching that big 50) and had very few that whined a lot. I have two rescue dogs now actually that I rarely ever hear from unless someone is at my door and they bark. Both live inside with me and both quiet. 10 years doing shepherd rescue again, can only think of one that whined but she had SA and I gave her back to the rescue after one day.

Before the dog gets attached to you, sell him now so he can find a family and bond to them instead of bonding to you then having to move on.

" Its really stressful on dogs to move from one home to another...."

Espescially a dog like a GSD who tend to be one person dogs anyway...

CaveCliff: " I took him to Karate with me tonight, he maintained "platz" for 2 hours, with a remote collar.  Again, tad whiney, but....again, the "90lb Chihuahua syndrome"."

Bhaugh, if this is "done all the time" , I really don´t want to be involved in "modern" training methods any more...it´s a shame, but maybe I´m still thinking wrong and the poster only wants the very best for the breed and for this special dog.  Cry Smile

Maybe Cavecliff's momma made him sit in a chair for hours on end, not allowed to move a muscle, in front of a window. And outside that window, where Cavecliff had no alternative but to peer out, there were other little boys playing baseball.....all he was allowed to do was watch, and if he so much as shifted in his chair....Zapppp, electric shock sent through his body.
So maybe treating a dog the same way is just 'normal' to 'ol Cavecliff...he just relates to it as how things are done.

Susie I was referring to the "buy a dog cheap to use... then sell" There are people on here that buy a dog only to breed her once, maybe twice, then sell her to the next person only to have them do in again and again and again. I know Ive had the displeasure of dealing with a couple of them. One is posting here now with puppies and I thought when I saw the ad, "Wonder how long that poor gal has"

The fact that this guy wants to store sperm on a dog that he doesn't even know, well that pretty much says to me, its about the money only because had it really been about the dog, then he would have not taken the dog in the first place.

Like leasing a bitch; they get what they need and move her. I don't see much difference; I have a hard time with both concepts. I don't see a problem leasing if it's not hard on the bitch, ie, maybe she gets to stay in her home but the lessee pays for the breeding, or similar situation. I can reconcile that a lot easier than buying a dog with the intention of selling it once I was done with it. There are really too many gray areas and possible circumstances to debate this though, imo.
