For those inquiring about his work, he's coming along very nicely in all 3 phases. We put him up on the table for a few minutes ago a couple of weeks ago just to see if the defense would be there when the time comes or if it was something we'd need to start work on bringing out. He showed us what we wanted to see so we'll just leave that alone until he matures. Interestingly, he was perfectly comfortable up there. I'm not sure what all of the hoopla is about with tables not giving the dog a way out but he never looked like he wanted one, opting instead to engage the helper head on just like he does on the ground. I would expect it to be the same for any good working dog when used correctly.
As far as the comparison between him and my experience with SL dogs, yes, there are definite differences, many of which are difficult to put into words. If I had to use one word to describe it, that word would be harder. He works harder; he plays harder; he trains harder; he tracks harder; he goes after and hits the helper harder...there is an amazing amount of intensity in the way he approaches life. All in all, he hasn't shown me anything yet that I really dislike or that worries me. Time will tell...
It took him about 3 seconds to survey the table and decide he was ok with it...

Ooooo...bad guy trying to sneak up on us!

Relax, dad, I've got this!
