Well I would hope that arthritis shows up on an x-ray;  but you mentioned you pulled the hip outward before she reacted which is a very unusual position for the hip to be placed;  hope that was it.  I also use gentle message for my old girl right on the joint, pretty firm in a circular motion then do some strengthening exercises with her, pick up one foot and hold in upward position for several seconds, then another foot, front and rear feet.  Message spinal area towards rear also.  All seems to help loosen things up.  Starrchar gave me some physical therapy exercises for dogs which has really helped.  Please keep us posted.  And I would give her rest until her appointment.  Good luck  Nan

Get her on some Ester-C 250mg, and call me in the morning.

Let's hope you went and had all tick diseases ruled out. I know. I am a broken record on this... but it has been the culprit so many times.... because it isn't supposed to be "here"!!!!!

Well, it is mild HD with a bone spur in right hip.  Not the best of news, but it could be so much worse.  I have some joint stuff to give her here on out that has been shown to restore joint fluid.  Not much more we can do, but treat symptoms and keep her in shape.

fawndallas, is it possible to post her x-ray?....

Do you plan on sending the x-ray off to OFA?

There are so many worse things a GSD can have, least you know now and can continue to exercise her and keep her thin,
swimming is by far the best exercise for your dog!Wink Smile

Sorry to hear that result but as others have said, it could have been
worse.  Keep the dog's weight down and the muscle strength up,
and you should get many years out of her yet !  Give her a hug from
the Board ?

I will try to post the x-rays next week. No, they will not go to OFA, as she is now fixed for other reasons. No since in spending the money.
