I have two Dobermanns and a GSD. Do I have the right to be concerned about what happens to the GSD according to you?

You and he need to get over your suck-fest. You have absolutely zero knowledge about the, "state of the GSD," and Jim is right behind you. Is Jim a K9 police handler? If not, WTF business does he have commenting, much less writing about, the role of a police dog and whether or not any particular dog is well suited for the role?
He wrote a book? Based on what? Get over it...yes, there are plenty of bad GSD's being bred but there are also plenty of very good ones who are growing up and being trained and working beside their handlers at real jobs every day. They are out there, in the field doing their jobs, not just reading about it on the internet like you and Jim.
Get over yourselves and STFU...the state of the breed is just fine if you know where to get a dog and what you are looking for. You don't...and it's a good thing because you couldn't handle the dog anyway.

how do you explain the malinois taking over as top dog in police and military work.
there was a time GSD were the eyes of the blind until other breeds took over................
a good working GSD should be the rule not an exception.
`nuff said!
