Malinda from Weberhaus GSD is on her 3rd generation and Valarie with vom Haus Wienbrand is on her fourth generation of females held back.  Both train and title their own.

VKGSDs, actually I'll only be having my 3rd generation of homebred dogs this spring.  Titled my foundation female to SchH1 in 2002, first litter in 2003.  My next female was from her second litter and born in 2004.  Titled her to SchH3 AWD1 FH2.  Her daughter who was born in 2009 and is SG1 IPO2 AWD1 KKL1 will have her first litter this coming spring.  I also have another one of her daughters who is SG BH and born in 2011.   She will hopefully be IPO1 and surveyed by this fall.

Took me 17 years to find my foundation bitch (I have always started with puppies), work and title all of my own dogs and don't breed very often (5 litters since '03) so not doing too badly.  :-)

thanks everyone for posting. So for those of you who are keeping a female line, do you keep males as well? Or do you just pay for whatever stud you feel will work for you at any given moment?

I can only work so many dogs and want to maintain my bitch line so I don't keep males for breeding.  I pay stud fees and do quite a bit of traveling.

I have always kept females.  My dogs are house dogs and I only have so many "spaces" for a dog... as I do not want too many to where I cannot work/title them.  However, I would like to keep a male someday just to raise/train myself so that I can experience that.  Maybe later in life when I had more time and a bigger house :)
