Birdy, We are about a half an hour south of Mansfield between Marengo and Delaware. I also lived in K.C. 10 years ago. They had some good clubs their. Our club will have both working and show dogs. Some have been pretty successful both in the show ring and schutzhund field. I hope you find a club that fits your needs. Ron

Shelly, Yes it happens. I almost fell out of my chair laughing girl, :-) Not everyone is nice in the GSD world, It would be great if that would change. We are lucky, our club loves everyone so long as they are a responsible individual with drive to see themselves and they're dogs succeed and our club litterally will bust they're backsides to help anyone get it done ! We are so lucky in the club that we have joined ! It is not always like this, I have heard horror stories !

When I first started in schutzhund, I had my first boy Victor who is half show, half working, he was 10 months old...I have always done AKC obedience so he was doing everything for the BH at that point but the moving sit. I had never tracked befor and got the "books" and started teaching him, he loved it, he actually broke a plastic crate to get to the track that I was laying...it was so funny...he was taking full nice grips on the puppy sleave....and guess what I was told!!! Shame he is a show dog, you should get rid of him and get a real working dog...I couldn't believe it. I pretty much got out of schutzhund after that...took me about 5 years to get back in it. Very sadd, so many people are given a real hard time about not haveing " working "lines, or in the show clubs, not having pure show lines, i have seen it both ways. H2

Thanks All- Ron and Ronny My mother and Father in-law and two sister-in-laws live between Delaware and Marengo on County Rd 24. Such a small world. They are trying to get us out there but it's country with "city" rules so we are resisting. Birdy...

I have heard of several clubs in the KC area who don't like show-line dogs. A friend up there told me last week that a woman trainer in the area who claims to be the "best" in Schutzhund was putting down her show-line male pup. He has great drive and a pretty fierce grip as well. Down here in SW MO there's no one now that I am aware of training except the police dept. but the now defunct group that used to exist here discriminated against me. The trainer didn't like females or show-lines and told me I couldn't work my girls on his property. Go figure that one. Birdy...

I wonder where u get a giraffe? Shelley u cracked me up . We need a good laugh here. We had a great trainer in Houston who did the pitbulls in the club and was great putting schutzhund titles on several of them . She still does the pit bulls and its the more showline ones, they have a name and I cant think which pb they are but not the fighting ones. SHe now has a couple of gsd's after she was exposed to some and she does very well. One man was ask to not bring his pit bull back after he got his Sch1, because he broke the sitdown off lead while waiting and attacked another dog, That is the only reason someone should be ask not to bring a dog to the club. I guess a giraffe or a monkey would be my next choise Shelley.........
