The law in NC states that you must give the seller of the pistol (never bought a shotgun, so can't comment on the process) a pistol
permit, regardless of retail or individual selling OR a copy of your CCW if you have one. If you have a CCW, there is no 3 day waiting
period and no pistol permit requirement.
Do people know and understand exiting laws? They should, but sadly don't. One of the responsibilities of owning firearms is knowing
the law. Those that do know and understand the law (who are law abiding citizens) tend to follow it. I have inquired on several pistols
listed for sale and each one asked whether or not I had a pistol permit or CCW, and they would not sell unless proper documentation
was given.

Ninja,
I watched the nightly (ABC) news and it was not covered only mentioned and the background video was of a gun show not the protests.
Blitzen,
#1 unlicensed individuals should not be allowed table space at gun shows, except for exibition only, no sales.
You can't run a background check if your not licensed.
#2 Yes
#3 No, those are protected private medical records.
But the mentally ill could be recognized and helped by family school and friends.
Sorry but that's just the way it is, you want your doctor to share your medical records?
#4 What hunters are allowed to use is already law in all states.
It has nothing to do with need.
#5 An assault weapon is a military fully automatic specialized weapon.
#6 No, not by your definition, machine guns require a federal tax stamp and all the other information already mentioned.
Slam is correct, private sales between private individuals goes on daily everywhere and cannot be controlled.
