No one wants to know anything.  They prefer to live in their little bubble where it is all cozy and warm, and they like to think it will always be that way.
So don't try and tell them any different, or they will become belligerent and nasty.

Yes J, we have had more than 5 Presidents, good call, but all the ones before this select group of 5 only incurred a debt of 908 billion, a mere pittance when you look at the last 5.

Yes, the debt will be higher when Obama leaves office not surprising considering Bush the drunken sailor spent us into a huge hole even though he campaigned as a fiscal conservative. But if you want to blame Obama that is your right.

And yes one President only had a 4 year term but really what does that have to do with anything? He was another conservative who spent like crazy.

Finally, the President has veto power over all of it so you can try and blame it on the congress but the ultimate blame is on the men signing the bills.

So, yes some can live in a bubble and it is clear to me who those folks are.

Admin,

This looks like old data:
"Barack Obama (2009-2010): So far, has taken Bush’s $10.6 trillion up to $13 trillion. Change: +23%.."

So in one year Obama took the debt up 23%.  Nothing to be proud of.  Although George H.W. obviously did some major damage  himself in just 4 years.  Maybe to be equitable, it should be computed as a yearly average increase for comparison..

Who is proud? I think if you look at a lot of that debt it would have been to bailout Bushes depression and his 2 wars.

I think you all are missing the point here and that is while the conservatives say they will decrease spending in reality they haven't. They campaign on their supposed strengths of fiscal responsibility and conservatism but aren't even close to living up to fiscal responsibility. And in fact they have done just the opposite over the last 30 + years.

Yet some proclaim that others live in a bubble and will become nasty when told the truth, I must say really?

Admin,  I did agree with you that so called conservatives, like GHWB, have not been as conscientious with the American budget as they promised.  But Obama is also not the only one straddled with debt from commitments made by the previous administrations.  It would be interesting if no bills could be passed that only come into effect in the next presidential term, so we could really tell who is responsible for what.  Like sequestration, the debt ceiling and Obamacare expenses would have become Romney's problem, but Obama's fault.

What makes more sense to you, to anyone, borrowing money to pay bills, or living within your means?
How long could you continue to pay bills with borrowed money before you are forced to pay back borrowed money with borrowed money?

What happens when the lender calls in the debt?

Why do we allow our government to do this?
Oh, yeah I forgot, they threaten us with the collapse of the system and no one gets their hand out.

But Moons isn't that whats behind your whole anarchy predictions, the collapse of the system, no wonder you are a cheerleader to this collapse.

Burn it all down.
