Derrick I looked at your website's medical section.
http://www.deryweb.com/medical/medical.htm
I will say that from your information provided it is not possible to determine that your problem was as you describe. Please do not misunderstand me I am not saying that it was not real what I am saying is that what you are presenting is not adequate and as is it can not lead to conclusion supporting your story.
I have looked at the x rays. Here are my conclusions:
1.The x ray is atrociously taken and makes the dog's hips look worse and conclusive evaluation is not possible .
Femurs are not parallel, knee caps are not visible.
2.The radiograph of your dog seems to me to be compressed and it is not in original Height : Width ratio. The picture seems to be unnaturally vertically elongated thus presenting distorted impression.
3. In any case; if this x ray was taken at the time of the surgery then I am here to say that these hips do not warrant surgery. This dog should absolutely not have any problems with these hips.
4. To say that the dog has genetic problem and it is fault of the breeder if the dog turns with HD is externally simplistic and false.
5. You are not presenting the original radiograph provided by the seller. Why?
Here is my comment to the training.
1. You say:"Three weeks after arrival, it was obvious he was not given obedience training or received inadequate training." I can not evaluate your dogs training, but often it is not possible for the dog to listen to you in 3 weeks. That is truth especially for person who does not know proper way the dog was handled in his original home.
Also for dog to be trained by someone who is not handicapped on a wheel chair needs quite a bit of retraining for someone on wheel chair like your self to be able to handle the dog.
2. You saying that the dog bit you after you corrected him. You had a dog for long time ( 3 years?) and according to you you, you had him properly trained and he bit you. You are not saying that the dog displayed any aggression towards you or your trainer before and you are not saying that the trainer warned you of poor or aggressive temperament. I will say that there is always reason why the dog bites. May it be poor temperament or poor handling. Dog like that may bite if you did not established proper leadership position and/or dog was confused or scared or overly dominant. However the dog was trained for $1000 on top of training which he received and you had him for 3 years when that happen(?) . Some dogs are a poor match between handler and the dog but there maybe other reasons not necessarily caused by the person who sold you the dog.
My advice
Next time when you get a trained dog get a handler's course.

I am glad you commented on those x-rays because I am going.....fair? Mild? certaininly not that bad at all.......I have had two dogs with worse looking x-rays, one who wes severely dysplastic and - per an ortho vet did not need surgery and lived out her life with no issues, and another who I was told would be "fair" on our OFA system with shallow hips and not nearly as a good a fit (who was also fine), but I did not send them in as I was not intending to breed.
The veterinary "note" - I went to that clinics site and it is a small practice and not one person is listed as board certified in orthopedic surgery. My local vet was all doom and gloom with the severe HD dog I had -- but the Board Certified Orthopedic Vet just did not see serious life quality issues and said - keep the dog lean, give glucosamine, keep her excercised and she should be fine all her life and she was. I really think any vet who touches anything bone related on my dog will be an ortho person. I would certainly no go off on someone unless I had a diagnosis from a speicalist. It is a fair question to see the original x-rays but the ones you posted have no requisite ID information such as ear tatoo or microchip either. Why did you not send them, at least, to the OFA? It is cheap.
As to Rinus, I have never dealt with him but I know enough folks who know and work dogs who have bought dogs from him and whose dogs are foundation dogs in their own kennels. I am much more inclined to weigh their attitudes than someone who seems to know so little and is now breeding his own dog. I can't think of any good breeder who has not been stalked by someone with a mission to 'take them down".
Being bit by your own dog. Well, nobody was there to see what when on. You want a dog truly capable of taking down a criminal, you have a dog who needs an experienced handler.

I don't know this Rinus but I recognise someone stuck in the past. Stuff happens. Deal with it.
To me, the only person who did you a disservice was the vet!
I feel sorry for the dog.
