Although I have first hand knowledge of all this... I prefer not to state who the breeder is (as I feel it is not my place)... but have recommended the lady who owns the dog with dysplasia do so.

And the story is getting more complicated.... there is another hand in the pot now that wants to see the xrays and the OFA report (because apparently this person is more knowledgeable than ANY OFA radiograph reader... lol).

However, this person has a high standing in the community... and until this part of the drama is over... I would not feel comfortable posting anything more than I already have.  I am just really feeling for this woman.

I guess you don't make it big unless you squash a few people on the way up.  Can I cuss now???????

Amy,

Since you feel its your place to run interference for the boiling lady but not post any names. (sigh..) You have already made it your place. Your involved now! So lets have some names.

Also can you please post the pedigree of the dogs that produced the dysplastic dog? Would love to see some back history on those.

LMAO!  Haven't we heard that before.....  Goes hand in hand with breeders that say the HD or ED was caused by the environment or some sort of injury.....  Typical of some breeders.   I say buyer beware, do lots of research and don't buy into the hype.

Slamdunc- Agreed! Research is essential, but unless information about incidents such as this are made public, a puppy buyer will easily and unknowingly fall into the hands of someone like this well-known breeder.

sureley the issue is  the contract,  if you as a breeder have a contract  then stand by it,  or dont offer  contracts,   if this  dog was bought  to breed  thus the contract re the hips , then  they should  take the dog back  find it a pet home and replace with a new pup,  be interseting to know  what its litter mates had  scored,

but im only a novice  so dont mind me

Lets see how many people would "jump all over" ads like these...
GORGEOUS WORKING GERMAN SHEPHERD PUPS-Suitable for sport, show breeding. Both parents OFA good, titled. $2000. "Now take your chances", as we all know buying a German Shepherd pup is a crap shoot, you may get one suitable for your intended purpose, and you might not. No refunds or replacements. I tried my best, Good Luck with your pup and THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH FOR THE MONEY. Again, Thank you, come again.
Makes me want to run right up and get in on that kind of deal huh!
When you say this "other" party wants to look at reports and is well known in the community, which community would that be?
Since it was brought to "the attention of this dog community" it had sort of tempted us into believing this was our business somdhow.
Maybe before naming names, since we were invited into this issue, maybe you could just post the x-ray for some of those "in this little community" could offer opinions. There are some very knowledgable people here as you know.
And really, bad hips, good hips, bad breeder, good breeder that really is the kind of info we are herr sharing.

Kitkat3478.....IN YOUR OPINION!

Kitkat3478.....IN YOUR OPINION!.....my opinion is that "your shit happens" really makes a guarantee more fictional than reality. I don't believe in guaranteeing anything that is random or unpredictable,,,,but that's just me and my small opinion...lol

If two people put crap in a cup.. You have a cup full of crap.

If two people where one puts crap in the cup and the other puts roses.. Guess what? You still have a cup of crap. Can't really make out the roses for the crap.

If two peiple put roses in a cup you have a cup of roses except sometimes one of those rose petals is a little wilted. So instead of a cup of beautiful rose petals one does not look like the rest.

Thats genetics in a nutshell. You can do everything right and something bad still happens. Just like humans take two perfectly healthy parents and a child is born with a issue at no fault of the parents. Even though we are all here for our common appreciation of dogs we have to understand they are still in naturs domain and sadly things don't work out right.

Now that I'm off my soap box... if the breeder said they would deliver a close to as perfect dog as possible and now it has issues the breeder needs to stand good on the statement.
