In my opinion the end of the Mayan calendar is of no significance what so ever.
On the other hand we are living in dangerous times and many things are poised to come to a head in the near future.
The earth will remain no matter what man does, with or without man surviving.
I would most fear the individual who fanatically believes such doomsday prediction's, second coming, and so on, that they may act or cause others to act in ways that would be destructive to all.
It's foolish to fear the unknown, it is wise to have a plan just incase.
