The problem with automatic feeding a dog in a kennel run is that rats, raccoon and other critters are attracted. Even if its just once a week or so. They seem to know when the food is out there. Another issue is the food can find its way to a corner or under somehting and rot, and then be discovered by your dog and injested....puke and poop city....... Be careful to clean up all uneaten food as quickly as possible or as soon as you get back.
Please give us an update on the food dispensor.......if it works or if it doesn't.

Was it the Tug-A-Jug? Senta destroyed one in 5 minutes flat so it might be prudent to give it to your dog under close supervision. Keep in mind, Senta has zero food motivation but she loves to destroy things.

I dread Wednesdays when I go to school and my husband has to feed the dogs. We've learned that Martin, a mechanical engineer, can only count to one.

My sister has a Chinese Crested with Mega E and she grinds his dog food in a blender to a dry powder and then when he is ready to eat adds water to his food. He has not had any problems with eating using this method in years. And he eats like it's his last day on earth! I think Mo is now 5 or 7 years old and other then he is crazy he is doing well. Plus Cresteds have almost no teeth, so the ground mush is really easy for him to handle.
Good luck

Well.... The rope in the bottle did not work for an actual feeding. Cirberus fiddled with it for a while, then lost interest. I do not think the ball will be any better.
The concept behind the automatic feeder is still the best. Fill the different feeder bowls and at certain times, the lid opens for access to the food. I think if having only enough food for the 24 hours, issues with other wildlife will be limited. Not very many wild animals will go into a dog kennel with the dog still in there; especially a puppy that thinks every living thing is there for them to play with.
Still, so far all of the feeders look to be pretty flimsy and easy to be destroyed. Does anyone have any experience using a feeder (and what did you think)?
