metronidazole can help with stomach crud, but I has to be prescribed at the correct dose. many vet's don't give dogs enough........

i had a dog given to me, he had horrible runs and was loosing weight, he was always hungry and i was afraid it was EPI. when I too him to my vet along with the drugs the other owner's vet gave him, my vet just shook his head... he prescribed about twice as much metronidazole and twice a day. the dog's issues cleared up after about 3 days and didn't have a problem after. my vet also suggested giving him a fish and potato based kibble (no other animal based protiens) for at leaset 10 weeks to "reset" his immune system.  the dog thrived on taste of the wild and natures domain - salmon based foods.

months later, this dog is fat, his coat glows and he is healthy.

Interesting...I just started mixing in Blue Wilderness Salmon into Jagger's food and am having great results with it.

The vet suspects or has diagnosed giardia if giving these two meds. Make sure the dog takes all as prescribed. This condition will take off when stress is present.
