Hi Pam

Have you bred from your girls yet or are you not going to bother?

Are there any males in the UK or would it have to be AI or travel abroad with them to mate if you did?

by Wildmoor on 03 December 2012 - 17:12

Hi Lyn

No I have not bred my females, as far as I am aware there are no males in the UK nearest ones are in Holland - but not all those are papered
once they gain FCI recognition I will look at bringing more over to the UK - they will be 5 in a few months too late to breed from maidan bitches, but both fit & well - only visit vets 1x year for vacs

Gaining AKC recognition status is not an easy thing to do,  if the breed was ever to be recognized by AKC then it would take a looooong time.

I'd love to meet some in person someday.

Crying shame they can't get FCI recognition yet, as I think they are super looking dogs and by all accounts much hardier than GSDs. It's like getting the best of both worlds with their looks, border collie and GSD.

Are they as trainable as a BC for obedience or agility?

by Wildmoor on 04 December 2012 - 18:12

Yes Lyn
extremely trainable as agile if not more so than a BC, they compete in Frisbee competitions, obedience, schutzhund, agility
many in the Nordic countries are also SAR dogs

I have a 7ft fence but they can clear it no problems

Chodsky pes is not nearly as protective as GSD. Mainly it lacks hardness. ( Ability to sustain protective action under pressure) .  SP will bark and jump back and forth and act aggressively but but will hardly ever bite hard  in anger.
CP was supposedly one of the dogs which created GSD.

After receiving phone calls from various people, about my pos;t which was to give information to genuine people interested in the breed it appears it as sparked interest from some undesirable parties hence I have issued a warning to all breeders of CPs in all countries to contact me before selling to the UK
