SitasMom.... the general believe is that brindle is extinct in the GSD and that every brindle looking GSD is not pure bred. Thats why I did the testing as I am too have gotten the statement that someone jumped the fence. It would have been nice to see a kbr result, but strong DNA testing would have to follow to prove the pureness of the breeding.
As long as breeders who own a brindle are not willing to do so, and are not open about the test results, this will be a loosing battle. And I am not sure if we should strive for it. Most of the time a brindled GSD was claimed, the breeder appeared a bit "shady" to begin with.
The other question was, if its possible a hidden trait in the black sables. Meaning everyone who owns a black sable should do the testing to find this out, as not every black sable might be a carrier. I did it because the striping on the pup was there for anyone to see, it was not a fluke of light shadowing the ribs. And for what ever reason she is different than the other girls were in so many ways.
Thanks, Pete!

Elkoorr - Thanks for the reply. I agree it is a little silly to ask for help over the computer, I was feeling frustrated last night. I'm in Northern Virginia. I trained with a SchH club here for 6 years straight but the problem only got worse with this particular dog as nobody lets their dogs socialize so the issue got sidelined as my male would be crated (in my car, away from other dogs) unless it was his turn on the field. Which is totally fine - but I haven't been actively training for over a year at this point, and now that I live in small dog city it is really difficult to go on walks. Now that I think about it, he has always been extremely vocal and goes bonkers and starts mouthing off when he sees people walking far away in the distance too. I can correct him and get him to knock it off when it's people but can't get his attention whatsoever when it comes to dogs, especially if they're within 15 feet of us. This dog is very sensitive and when people get nervous and shy away to the other side of the street it amps him up even more. I'm quite firm and strong with my corrections so it is not an issue of me being a pushover. If you know of anyone nearby who may be able to help with this issue shoot me a PM.
