I expect its just 'cos Auggie's so LUVABLE ;)
Having had my share of the other version, with people crossing the street or screeching in horror at the
very sight of my Shepherds, over the years, I kinda envy you !
But yes it must get annoying !

What bothers me most are the people with their dogs, especially the small dogs, who let their dogs or run their dogs on purpose up to my GSD. It happens in vet hospitals where either their dog or my dog is sick.
I say "I do not socialize my dog!" and that makes them mad at me. I tell them I trust my dog but not yours. In a new vet clinic, the front desk staff are shocked at my dog/s being perfect ladies/gentlemen.
Sometimes I cannot pull my dog away or get my book in from of their dog, so I am now using my shoe in front of my dog to protect MY dog. If their dog is so illmannered, why might it have a bad illness???
