Bee, that is one adorable photo, he looks like he didn't skip a beat adjusting to his new home.

Costco is GREAT! you will love it. I buy treats there (dry duck breast - jerky) also great deals on flea stuff and since i do feed dog food 3-4 times a week and raw food on fri-sat-sun i buy their Kirkland lamb and rice dry dog food and cans from Costco, you can't beat 40 pounds for $28.00 for good quality kibble, and cans food is great you can actually see chunks of peas and sweet potatoes in it.

Salmon oil, cheapest place is Tractor supply, it comes with a pump can't remember the size (15 oz i believe) for about $12.00-$14.00 places like PetSmart charges you $21.00 for the same stuff. Same w/ probiotics. I also buy garlic pills and joint supplements, sometimes you can find it cheaper on line but if i am already there i just pick it up. :)

Eggs...i would not do it more than 2-3 times a week...but thats just my opinion, also i would not do it during summer...temp do play a big role with digestion. Stick with Krazy suggestions and i think you will do great!

Hey beetree, This feeding raw takes some getting used to. LOL. Go to your grocer and ask them to order 30lb box of turkey necks. Have them check for qualiity. If they have skin or loads of fat, refuse it. They should be skinless and clean. They are huge so you need to cut them in half. They are great for a single meal. I feed both Ziggy and Echo the exact same thing. Breakfast...Half a turkey neck Lunch...Hamburger,Green tripe,Greek Yogurt and Supplements (Glucosomine/Chondrotin, Chewable Vit C, Fish Oil, Vit E, Alfalfa & Kelp)and I can't get bone meal so I get a calcium supplement for horses from a vet supply house. Supper pretty much a repeat of Lunch including supplements. I vary the tripe with canned mackerel or eggs a couple of times a week. If I feed fish I skip the fish oil. Sometimes I give chicken drumsticks or thighs and on occassion I'll feed chicken backs/neck. The grocer here can order them four each to a package by the case but I have to cut a lot of fat off or they will need pumpkin and I only do pumpkin if someone gets diarrhea. I give beef liver once a week, beef heart a couple of times a week. I vary it up and don't worry that they get the exact same thing each day. It will balance out if you maintain it most of the time. I only feed 3 times a day and I clean the stainless steel bowls out with Dawn & Clorox after each meal. You want to be careful You don't get sick feeding them raw. They will be fine.

DebiSue....Uh... oh.... no skins?  I didn't do that with the chicken! He ate the whole wings, he's a little beast! Could be why he had golden runny poops this morning?  What about chicken livers and other innards? Everyone just says beef about those it seems?

Steph, I apologize, I forgot you gave me that raw feeding sheet! I was still in my bag with his medical records... I have actually read it now. What is "Super C" powder?

I saw something in the store that was a powder and included kelp and other stuff and claimed it was a miracle additive... is it something like that?

Kelp - GREAT stuff! I use it in my our food and in dogs....dont think Super C is the same thing.

I think super C is what Steph uses for vit C supplement...I just use the chewable vit C tablets. As for the skins, I was referring to the turkey necks only. I got one really crappy case and I don't pay for skin & fat. Seriously, they had packed it full of crap. Ziggy can take the chicken skins no problem...Echo on the other hand...it's too rich for her so I skin her chicken for her or she upchucks it. I did feed chicken livers and gizzards but those were too rich for both of my dogs so I stick with beef. I get powdered kelp and alfalfa separately so I dunno about the stuff you saw. Could be if you read the lable that you could use it and maybe cut back on the other supplements like the vit C. I don't know about Beau but Ziggy eats everything without question, pills, tablets, gel pills, powdered supplements and anything that hits the floor. Echo will eat around her pills but thank goodness if I tell her to eat them she will. Just keep feeding him the pumpkin. That's probably where the yellow poop came from. Seems like puppies always get the runs when they first come to a new home. Nerves? Oh, I forgot to mention...give him the egg shells too. Echo will spit them out so Ziggy gets hers too. Crunch them up in the hamburger if you need to. I would limit the eggs to 2 or three times a week and I only feed them in one meal on the days that I do it. That yellow poop could be egg yolks LOL I think you are over doing the eggs. Hang in there!!

I am happy to report, I cut back on some skins, made a few portion adjustments, and we just had a rather nice firm ending! I can't believe how pleased I am, LOL

Not trying to egg anyone on in the debate,  It appears from this exhaustive read that one thing better for the dogs cooked...  is the egg!  I believe this study still has legs in the separation of egg and digestibility.  For people fascinated with Salmonella and dogs heres your cure. Its long and though. But heres the short on it.

Raw egg-white is found to be a decidedly indigestible substance.

It may cause diarrhea in dogs, rats, rabbits, and man when in- gested in any large quantity.    Its utilization by the body is poor since it is used only to the extent of 50 to 70 per cent.    Subjects can acquire a certain tolerance for the native protein after ingest- ing it for several days so that it no longer causes diarrhea and is somewhat better utilized.

Raw egg-white can be made digestible through coagulation

288    Utilization of Egg Proteins
by heat; by precipitation with alcohol, chloroform, or ether; by incubation with dilute acids or alkalies; by partial digestion by pepsin; by conversion into alkali-metaprotein.
The indigestibility of native egg-white probably lies either in its antitryptic    content or in its chemical constitution.    Its physi- cal texture appears to play a minor part in its behavior.
Of the individual proteins constituting egg-white, theaalbumin fraction appears to be the indigestible component.
The whites of the hen’s egg and duck’s egg act alike in causing diarrhea and in being poorly utilized.

Egg-yolk either raw or cooked is excellently utilized.

I thought turkey was bad for dogs?    Something about the chemical that makes us sleepy.
