I am soo sorry for your dog and she is taking it like a true trooper. Hats off to both of you for the health attitude.
I myself am kind of paranoid about HD and ED. Especially since I did not know that having a vet look at the xrays was enough (lessoned learn after Rose was pregnant). I do not even let my pups jump in and out of a vehicle yet (at 21 weeks). My husband laughs at me picking up a wiggling squirming 30 and 40 lb pup just to go for a drive.

Don't feel too bad about not catching the issue earlier. If the dog was showing signs and was ignored would be different, but most people do not suspect ED or do early xrays if there are no symptoms. What you ran into is common, when ED is one side only, the dog often limps to take pressure off that side. When it's bi-lateral, they sometimes do not limp because it doesn't help.
Hoping all goes well,
