I buy organic extra virging coconut oil from vitacost. It comes in a big 54oz jar for 21.99.

I am certainly interested in anything that cuts down on shedding. I just have it for cooking. Sounds like a good idea.

My dogs have all been using the coconut oil for almost 2 years. It has made a huge difference in their coats. I buy the organic virgin coconut oil at Trader Joe's 5.99 a jar, and sometimes it is on sale for 3.99 a jar.

Thanks for the link, I've needed another supplier for my soap making - this looks to be a good one.

How are you people administering the coconut oil to your Dogs?
It comes like a paste and changes to an oil when warmed.
Are you mixing it? Heating it? Or just giving it directly as a paste.
Coconut oil has been proven to help numerous brain problems in humans, it's great stuff.
Great thread.

Hello Everyone,
Thank you all very much for your suggestions........I'm really glad it's not going to be as costly to feed anymore.
Ninja.....Mine's in liquid form at the store.......probably because it's summer......and turns to paste after being in my refrigerated home for a day.

I just give a TBS of it in hard form on top of food. All of my dogs would eat it off a spoon. They love it! I have used it in liquid form, when the higher air temps melted it. I don't think it matters to my dogs in which form they get it, so long as they get it.

I gave my two dogs a tablespoon of coconut oil like a garnish on top of their chicken.
They immediately consumed it like it was a special treat.
