Very interesting to compare a view of a Siegerschau of that time (I was one year old, then !) with reports read
over the years since I got involved with the Show side / '80s .

then I was going to guess the first dog as being born about "2009"
and being of east/west working lines.
She is beautiful, I want all my dogs to have her look, not too exaggerated.
Below is a pup I bred born April 16th 2012, I think she has just the right structure with
no extremes to the head or hind end, her name is Suzie Q!
Bloodlines are some DDR, but also linebred on my 11 1/2 year old Mira, that is 1/2 American
certified search & rescue lines, 1/4 DDR, 1/4 working West, sounds confusing but dogs I have known and met in person as far back as 1982.
She is a confident firecracker!
Hope her body stays in proportion when she's all done growing!

I like that look, after all the GSD should be longer than tall...

Interesting pup, mirasmom, would be nice to see updates in maybe 10 months!

I loaded up these pictures, because people always say the German Shepherd changed that much during the last decades, and not to the better side...
Please compare the pictures, on the left side the "old" pictures, on the right 2 of my favorites, still alive and high V-rated on the Siegerschau.
It´s a pity the angles of the pictures are not the same, otherwise they would look even more similar.

I know there are extremes like everywhere, but in my personal opinion the "normal" high rated German Shepherd didn´t change THAT MUCH.
