I am learning here. Can someone post pics of hips that have been cert as good and excellent? Pics of all levels would be great.

Im going to go out on a limb and say that there's quite a bit of space in between the ball and socket.....especially the right side. this could be the positioning, or laxticity.
Fair is my guess.

Here's an x-ray of a 32 month female for compairison.
I'm thinking these will go good, the left could be a bit deeper.
Notice the difference in clearance between the ball and socket?

OFA cashed my check so I'm guessing the results will be on their way soon.

OFA is getting stingy with Goods.  A good friend of mine is friends with Dr. Keller and called him after her dog came back fair and they were expecting good. She's done hundreds of dog's X-rays and knows what she's looking at.  By the old standards they would have been good. Dr. Keller told her that technically very few GSD's should pass OFA because of the shallow coverage of the socket, and now they have mostly youngsters right out of school grading them, so they are much more critical over all. Previously GSD's were given a little leeway, but not any more. So I say Fair on this one.

BTW Keith you can call and see if they have the results for you if you can't wait for the mail. :)

thanks for reporting back.  i always like to see what the actual rating is.  good learning for all of us.
i agree that one hip is good, the other fair and thus the rating.  this dog still looks good for all
purposes as far as training & activity.  i don't believe an special precautions or limited activity would
be necessary until the normal old age stuff sets in.

It's a good thing, too, because he'd be impossible to live with if I had to restrict his activity level!

Do him again if you want a better rating.

I just got around to getting an AD on my dog Theo at age 6 1/2 years old and he has a Fair hip rating.

Thanks for posting the outcome.

Way to go Axel.
I don't restrict my dogs at all either. It would be interesting to see my dogs results, she is also a terror.

Great thread. :)
