Back on topic (thanks beetree for starting this thread):

TRUE BLUE WARRIOR HERO: PBSO - Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office K-9 DEPUTY "KENZO" SHOT THREE TIMES ... SAVED FELLOW DEPUTIES' LIVES ... AND THEN WALKED OUT OF THE HOSPITAL ON HIS OWN FOUR LEGS ... LESS THAN 24 HOURS LATER! On Monday, an evil man shot and killed his girlfriend. He then took off on foot. Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Richard Burdick, K-9 KENZO, a 9 yoa German Shepherd, and his handler (name not being released at this time), spotted him walking. Kenzo, who has been working for the SO for the last 8 years, placed himself between the armed suspect and his fellow Deputies and then rushed the gunman. The suspect fired several rounds toward the dog. One bullet struck Lt. Burdick in his thigh. Three bullets struck Kenzo. At least one of the Deputies fired back, striking and killing the killer.

The wounded Warriors were transported. Kenzo was critical. Lt. Burdick was treated and released and is now resting at home. Kenzo was shot three times to his chest region. One bullet was a through-and-through. A second bullet was removed and the third, which is too close to a muscle but not in harm's way, was left for now. Through the night and morning, numerous K-9 handlers from several agencies paid visit to Kenzo to show support and gratitude.

Late Tuesday afternoon, Police K-9 Deputy Kenzo walked out of the vet hospital on all fours. He is now resting at home with his handler and family. Much thanks and gratitude goes out to the veterinary staff. Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw stated "If he hadn't distracted the guy, maybe more than one of them would've been shot, and maybe not just in the leg. But that's what he's trained to do - apprehend people."

Our heartfelt thoughts are with Lt. Burdick and K-9 Kenzo, his handler and their families, both of blood and of BLUE. Though taking a life is never an easy thing to do, no matter the circumstances, the choice was taken from these Heroes and they did what they were forced to do. Job Well Done True Blue Warriors

Our thoughts also extend to the family of victim, Deglis Quintana, 37.

3 injured in knife-attack at motel; K-9 catches suspect

Johnny Eunice faces multiple charges

UPDATED 12:01 PM EDT Jun 05, 2012

Johnny Eunice: Accused in knife attack

 -

A man is in custody, charged in connection with a knife attack at a motel that left three people injured, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to the Carolina Inn and Suites at about 1:45 a.m.

Officers found Chavis Shiron White with a knife wound on his throat. Deputies said they learned that White and Johnny Eunice had gotten into a fight in White’s hotel room. A short time later, as White walked walked through a breezeway, Eunice slashed him in the throat, deputies said.

Two other men, Michael Pick and David Ball, tried to stop Eunice and were also cut.

A deputy with a police dog found Eunice in some nearby woods a short time later.

Deputies said when they tried to document injuries from the K-9 capture, Eunice was combative and spit on a deputy.

When he was put back in the patrol car, Eunice kicked out the back window, according to deputies.

The incident report said one deputy was cut on the eye by the shattered glass and two other deputies were also cut. Deputies said they used additional force and restraints on Eunice to get him under control.

Eunice was treated at the hospital and booked into the jail on charges of attempted murder, assault and battery and malicious damage to county property.
