I used chilled semen from Yasko in Oct. of 2005 and the sperm quality was horrible. It was full of dead sperm and a lot of prostate cells. I know of more people who had the same problem with chilled semen from Yasko around the same time that I used him. He's an amazing dog though. One of my all time favorites. Mysti

Fleischer made a big broo-ha-ha when Yasko (who I loved) came to his kennel. He tried to grind outYasko pups, and sold them at absurd prices (good for Bill). The truth be told, the pups weren't too hot.......most looked like average pets...... Then, BINGO!!! Yasko's gone. No reference on his website....... GSDworld.net mentioned the comment allegedly from Fleisher's wife, that rumours were spread,so he's not being bred anymore..... Between you folks and me, if the rumours were false, and Yasko was still rockin' and rollin', he'd still be a widely promoted top stud dog.....but he ain't. ..end of story....... (could this be the end of the Ursus line genes..?)... .....(glad I've got my stash filled with Ursus....).

These rumors is why he has been retired.

I don not know if they are true or not.

Someone like Bill Fleischer doesn't retire a money machine like Yasko, unless there is a truly VALID reason. That's OK. Yasko was, and is, a great dog. Almost as great as his father, Ursus von Batu....!!!!!!!! Under a worst case scenerio, he's laying on a sofa right now, yawning, and smiling at all of us, with a bone, pillow, and volley ball by his side.

"Under a worst case scenerio, he's laying on a sofa right now, yawning, and smiling at all of us, with a bone, pillow, and volley ball by his side." By the way, I happen to know alot of Ursus line dogs that do that......they're smarter, and better lookin', than us....!!!

Thanks everyone for your input. I too think Yasko is a marvelous dog and I am lucky to have one of his daughters who is always highly rated and does excellent bite work, and several pups from one of his best sons. I too hope Yasko lives a long and healthy and relaxed life.

I think I miss the boat on getting a Yasko pup, being grand or not. Makes me sad!

Bear in mind Yasko is not short on progeny. He was very heavily used, and has left a lasting legacy of which Uran might be jealous. History has seen few dogs as successful as Yasko, and I regret that U.S. breeders were not more successful in using him. The greatest testament to a dogs excellence is the ability of his progeny to breed on, and Yasko has many that do.

Yasko is the most beautiful GSD of all times! and his progeny is one of the best too! VA1Larus von Batu VA3 Erasmus van Noort VA3 Orbit vom Huhnegrab V2 Janos von der noriswand SG1 Quentin Karanberg SG2 Nicos vom Leithawald! All these superb son's of his will continue his lines forever and Nicos is the Upcoming star! He's a definite VA if shown in Germany! Quentin Karanberg is another dog who would've been VA if it wasn't for politics! Janos should be VA next year as he too has contributed a lot for the breed The other sons of his mentioned above need no introduction!
