I would like to have at least a day or two to go back and edit grammar or spelling errors. Sometimes I post when tired, and when I read the post the next day, it's a mess. And since I DO have a day job, sometimes I don't notice what an awful job I did until a day or two later.

k9nme, why on earth would you care that some 'big shot in Schutzhund' felt the need to build up their self-worth by running down your dog, and belittling you for valuing that old dog? Did their pettiness change how YOU feel about your old dog? Did it change how wonderful that old dog was in your eyes and heart? Of course not...no should it have done so. You did your old dog a disservice when you edited your posts because of something someone else said--if you won't stand by your words about that dog, where's that dog's honor?
Screw that--since when has 'Schutzhund as sport' become the yardstick by which all knowledge is measured, and all dogs are valued? Hell, I'll go on record (again) and point out that an awful lot of those who think they're 'big shots' in Schutzhund achieve that position via purchasing an adult dog that someone else has already put the foundation training into--and in many cases has also already titled, too. It's not all that difficult to be able to recognize a good dog when you see one, and if you've got the $$$ then anyone can hire someone to find a good one for them; it's much harder to *create* a good dog from square one, and harder yet to take it further and breed dogs that produce more good ones. But nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can talk sufficient trash to change how I value any dog I've ever cared for.
As for how long the time frame should be for editing a post, I'm with the moderator--a couple of hours should be sufficient; while I loathe making spelling, useage and grammatical errors as much as anyone, it's not a serious enough wound to warrant being able to correct the mistake 24 hours or more later. I'm of the school wherein you don't say it or write it if you aren't willing to own it. If one regrets something after they've posted it, or misstated something as fact, one can always reenter the thread and state that regret or correct that misstatement in a follow-up posting.

Now I understand the 'undertone' on your other thread about 13yr 2 month dog. Clearly the same dog that you feel so passionate about.
Don't let anybody take how you feel about any dog you care about away from you, they are not worth a hair on that dogs head. I have never read a wiser or truer statement than that of Hexe in the first two paragraphs of her post above.

hexe......that is one of the best statements i read on this site...and i have not even seen the thread in question but what you said is right on the $..thank you!
time frame....i can see both sides of the fence...either way, its not up to us, so...life goes on...

there is a spelling checker to use so that you don't have to go back and correct spelling.

Spell check is great but it is not perfect and doesn't check grammar. It is difficult at times when posting from an IPhone and seeing the actual post. Some posts look ok when done from my IPhone until I read them later on a regular screen and catch mistakes and typos.

Slamdunc, that's just the price you'll have to pay for being trendy and cutting-edge, I guess!

Hexe, the emoticon is visible. Hey sooner or later you will get cable tv and cell phone service. Then you will have to find a new use for that enormous satellite dish that you must still have. ;) my fancy emoticon from my IPhone.
