Oh boy. I just watched the video. It made me cringe. Every dog who I've seen move like this were bad hips. But, don't get discouraged. At such a young age, your pups best option may be hip replacement. I would have his hips x-rayed first thing to find out for sure.

so the video showed enough for 2 of you to think it may be pretty bad?
I plan on calling my vet tomorrow to see how soon we can get xrays. The vet we saw last time, our regular vet was out for a week, just happened to be the vet who, in the past, gave this BYB his puppy health certs. He ask where we got our pup and then told us that he had refused to give the guy anymore health certs. He said that he told the man that he would not put his name on a cert. for a puppy when the breeder was being non compliant with vet suggestiond as far as the health of the pups go.
I'm taking him back to the same vet because he knows about this breeder.
Wish us luck and I really apperciate all the info,hepl and encouragement that I've gotten here today.

I've seen pups like this that have been OK, I've seen pups like this that have had bad hips.
Your pup is very much overangulated, out of condition and at a very awkward age.
Your pup may always walk with a bit of a twist in its gait, he may be OK, or may have HD.
#1 get the hips x-rayed to double check, get it done by the specialist in your area.
After verifing that he doesn't have HD.......
#2 give the pup more time out in the yard to walk, run and play to developed muscles.
#3 swimming is very good, a water treadmill is even better for non stress exercise.....
You need to fix the ear, the crease most likely will not fix its self.
#1 go to your local craft store and purchase some foam board that's about 1/8" thick.
#2 cut a triangular wedge that's about 1 inch wide a the base and 1.5 long
#3 get some skin glue from your local medical supply store (some people use rubber glue, but I think its a bit harsh)
#4 shave inside of ear at crease
#5 add thin layer of skin glue to inside ear and to wedge (do not let any drip or run into the ear)
#6 when both are tacky place wedge to ear, keep replacing for about 2 months.

What I see is an extremely over angulated puppy. I had one myself I was convinced he had something wrong with his hips so I got him xrayed his hips were fine and as he got older I worked him in the sand to strengthen his hocks. The angles tend to straighten as the puppy grows up but still will be over angulated.

Thank you for the ear advice. The registration papers I got with Baron say the Sire is Blonde Royal Bak. The Dam is Sheba Vom Sudwind.
The guy we got him from is named George Boyung. He lives in Seminole, Florida. I wish there was a way to steer people away from him. He is and 82 year old man, not that that matters. He and his wife really seemed to care alot about their dogs. He did tell me that he had 6 full grown GSD's inside the house. The pups were in an open,sort of, addition/kennel area. It was part of the house but, open to the back yard. It was very hot but he did have a fan and ventilation there. He brought out one adult dog that he said was the father. He called him 'General'.
The pups were advertised for $550.00. When we arrived to look, he had 3 left. 2 males/ 1 female. He told us that one of the male was already sold, so we picked ours. Then he told us that he would lower the price to $400.00 because he was going to have to renew the ad, as it would run out the next day. We thought, "Hey, this an extra bonus!"
I did look up the Florida puppy Lemon Law last night. We may need to use it.
Also, I wanted to ask about the floating ribs. When we got Baron home, it scared me, seeing these 2 bulging areas on each side. Neither of my other 2 GSD's had that. Is it normal? Is it another congenital defect?
I can't thank all of you enough. This really means the world to me.
I wish there was something I could do to repay all of the great info and good wishes that I've received here.

First of all I want to say I am not speaking with any authority other than I love my dog. I've had 4 GSD. I am so sad for you and your puppy. There is definately a problem with this breeder's dogs. And still he keeps breeding. Now, you are the one with a broken heart for your new puppy. I hope some of these people are correct in that he can be a "normal" puppy, if I understand correctly. Your only concern is with the puppy being in pain. That would be mine too. My guess is that you would feel guilty not to want him because of this defect. I am so sad that you would be put in this position. The breeder has to know because of the vet's refusal to give a health certificate, am I right? If you use the Florida lemon law, what does that mean? Do you give the dog back to the breeder? Have you looked into the other siblings in this litter to see if they too are affected? Will you be willing to return to the breeder? Like I said I'm not a proffessional in any way. Just a dog lover who is sorry to hear about your puppy. I wish you well.

The law seems to state that they are go give you a replacement and reinburse you for medical expenses up to the cost of the puppy.
If I were you, I'd put my feeling aside and give this one back. There are just so many different issues with this puppy and all will end up costing you an arm and a leg. It doesn't seem like it now, but in the long run there will be much less heartbreak and missery if you take it back now then have to watch the poor thing struggle through life.
Did you see that sire, dam and the other adult GSD's? Just wondering what condition they were in and what their temperaments were like. It really sounds like you got yourself right in the middle of a horrible puppy mill situation. I wouldn't accept another pup from these people.
