Laura,

Thanks for the clarification.  Parts of British Columbia are bad enough for "far and away."

… and

Good Luck to all the Universal Sieger competitors. It becomes a bit grueling, and of course a lot of fun too, for those of us crazy enough to prepare for and enter both the Sch 3 trial and the Sieger Show, all in the same weekend.

Get 'em, Karen. We drooped the ball big time in Linz. Now I live vicariously through you. :). Kevin Nance

Good Luck!! We'll be rooting for ya! How many are going for Universal Sieger?

The Universal Sieger calculation is to be as follows:

Trial Placement + Show Placement = Point number

Examples:

Trial Score Show Placing Calculation

Trial and Show:

1st place =1, 2nd place =2, 3rd place =3 etc

Ideal score 1+1=2, the lowest number wins.

38(b) To be eligible, the dog must have successfully competed in both the Canadian GSD SchH.3

Championship and Sieger Show in the same year.

38(c) In order to participate in the SchH 3 Championship, the handler must be a member in good

standing of the GSSCC or a WUSV affiliate and to have qualified. See SECTION 9.

" Get 'em, Karen. We drooped the ball big time in Linz. Now I live vicariously through you. :). Kevin Nance   Good Luck!! We'll be rooting for ya! How many are going for Universal Sieger? "     I understand the disappointment of not achieving the desired goal results; however, in no way could this ever be considered "dropping the ball big time in Linz".  You and Vandal went out and achieved what hundreds/thousands of people in this sport could only dream of accomplishing.  New handler, with a young dog, qualified, traveled and earned your way to competing for the Universal Sieger title.  Show placement was very good and you passed your trial.  In our little world of schutzhund, that is huge.  Congratulations to you!    Just reread my post and realize it's misleading.  I was talking about Universal Sieger entries from previous years.  Griff and I will not be going to the Canadian Nationals this year.  I committed the #1 error of pushing for Sch 3 when the dog isn't ready.  Although he got the title, now we go back to foundation (he's not yet 3 years old) and teach some things properly.  Hopefully won't make that mistake again (although there are tons of other mistakes just waiting to be made).    I don't know how many are going for Universal Sieger this year.  I believe the entries from the West will be small.  A lot of young dogs being trained around here right now.   Cheers karen

There is a difference from NewBrunswick to Newfoundland and it is either a five hour ferry ride or a 12 hour ferry ride depending on the ferry you take-if it is never in Newfoundland that is a shame because Newfoundland is definitely worth the trip-even if I get terribly sea sick
