"The breeding of Shepherd Dogs must be the breeding of working dogs..."
"The Shepherd Dog is a service dog, and must be bred as a Service dog AND must only be judged as a service dog. With service dogs, suitability ranks higher than beauty."

Having read many of Gustav's previous posts, I'm sure that was pure sarcasm.

As the name suggests, the GSD is a herding dog.
If it can't herd, it can still be a good dog in any way that the owner finds valuable, be it looks, affection, movement, or "working" ability.
This breed has many lines and followers of each respect others' choice.
Even SL will make comotion as a strange approaches; for 95 plus % of owners, this is enough work.

LOL Rik
Mine certainly do, they took their time kicking in today LOL. Perhaps I can be excused, due to having just completed a mega bout of tree lopping. That must be where my battery power went

LOL... and to be fair, Gustav, well, he usually holds that side at bay! LOL Actually this is the first I've ever seen Gustav enjoy the utter thrill of letting it all wash out, as with the going of an ice floe filled of mind numbing conclusions... LMAO!!

Aw Shucks!! Just trying to get the SL people to like me....I guess I am busted.....On the serious tip....if it is a matter of the post on this thread and the post on the thread listed by Sunsilver....Well one is true and factual and the other is appeasing

The future is NOW. I really believe the only way advocates from each side will ever find peace, it to OFFICIALLY split the breed into two breeds. Showline people have far too much invested in their individual ventures to just give up and throw it all away. And allowing them to bring in fresh blood from workinglines, only prolongs their long downward spiral into oblivion.
But then, the SV would never endorse such a split either, because the organization would lose far too much revenue. And, since that organization also holds a great part of the blame, seems a completely DIFFERENT registry is the only real answer, but only part of the solution to a very large problem. How's the RSV2000 coming along in financially backing their own major events?

It is a free world and everything goes, huh?
Breed any piece of blank dogs you want and just like you have that right, no one else should have the right to object?
Is that how it works now?
