Defense

edited to say:  These guys do not know how to build confidence in a dog judging off the vid. A fear biter will never be confident because his genetics prevent it no matter how much confidence building you do. This dog's body language is not indicitave of a dog with such bad genetics.

Yes it's defense, but a dogs confidence like mentioned before should be built up working D and if it isn't IMO the dog is going to end up in a bad place, a fearful place.

The dog will be more reactive and soon overreactive to stimulus but my definition of  fearbiter is a dog that is much worse and cannot be recovered no matter what you do. A lot of people will lok at a dog that has been poorly trained like that and say " well hes a fear biter too bad". I look at a dog like that and think about how much he can be built back up. I look at a fearbiter and go to get my .22

Makes sense, now it will be interesting if Am comes back to discuss what's going on. He seems to post a video and just disappear.

Here are my thoughts.................. When an OP types in a "TOPIC" but does not type in any input whatsoever he/she can't be serious enough to ask questions, ask for help, or even ask for opinions or input. So what is the purpose?

OP! Is this Day 1 in training? Or Day 60? What are you either being taught? Attempting to learn? Or attempting for the dog to learn?

My .02; The dog appears to be an adult, could be wrong though.  We can drum up a few adjectives /behaviors but initially when brought into the room: uncertainty, nervousness, unsure of himself and the handler, direction just to name a few. If I brought Reiker into the same scenario he would either be whining, growling, smelling, trying to pull me to "look" for someone and as soon as he heard or saw the decoy it would be non-stop "I am going to get you!"  Watch the dogs' body language. Not sure if the "butt" smacking is "praise" or a means to incite/focus/turn it up? so to speak. But if it's praise........ He hasn't done anything yet. And if praising it's just not touch. Stroke/caress from head down entire length of body and verbal praise. There's a moment when the dog turns back to look at the handler as if to say "now what"? Or "Am I doing this right Daddy"? There was a split second the dog "appeared" to be "serious",  but only for a second.

I see a dog that feels that he is fighting for his life!

He cant wait to get out of there, the same excitement most dogs have entering the training room he shows when he knows that he is leaving the training room.

Why so much decoy movement?

Go back to the tug toy!
