great input newbie, could you give us a ped on this particular dog....i've seen uncontrollable maneaters like you mentioned a time or two, these are the dogs that wind up on a short trip down a dark hallway, sometimes they can produce "useable dogs" thru their progeny....but a dog that can't be trained or guided without handler aggression is usually a washout, unless he winds up with a true "oldschool" trainer with much experience in handler aggressive dogs.....they usually aren't able to be titled due to some weird quirks(dog on dog aggression, aggression to kids and totaly unreliable in social situations)....one dog that really got my number was "TOM VOM SUNNENBRINK",that brute scared the crap out of me.good, capable dog...just too much handler aggression for me...and he left my home with the quickness when that aggression surfaced, but the original post was for "serious schutzhund dogs",and in my mind that means a controllable dog with a healthy dose of real fight, suitable drives and an attitude that exudes"yeah,i'm the man",not a handler aggressive bully.

yeah I know I went a little off topic it is just something I will never forget seeing brought to the field. This was about 12 years ago and no I do not know the lines.

My girl is a serious one on the field :) I love how courageous and strong she is. lol when the helper gives her the sleve though she wants more of him instead and spits the sleave out and says come on to him.

newbie...people involved with dogs, and "dogsport" in particular should be able to see exactly that type of dog,to actually see how much damage a real maneater can do to the human body when "handler aggression" gets out of control, these types of dogs really drive home the notion to us that"I DON'T WANT ANY OF THAT"! i'm fairly sure that after you were able to whitness the dog you described, you were able to form a healty opinion of what you'd like to deal with or not......there is so much value in being able to see this type of dog.

There was a dog at O.G indy owned by a older man Bill Fancil I believe the dogs name was sonny and this dog was a monster.

 Very good and interesting.

I dont automatically associate handler aggression with seriousness nor do I equate it with an uncontrollable dog. I dont even think a serious dog has to be hard to corrections from the handler.  I dont think they have to be dominant either. I am reading about these monsters that sound to me like they are out of control. To me a really serious dog is quiet and confident and should not have a problem being under control by the handler but takes care of business in a big way and when its done they return to being quiet, calm, confident and serious. The mention of Iwo vom Grenzganger, wasn't Fax vom Grenzganger the best male Fee produced???

by vom ost see on 07 January 2011 - 13:01

rexy...fax could have been the better dog,but i wanted to relate info on dogs that i've seen in training and trial situations...i think "FAX" was down in austrailia with "VOM FORRELL",(WHICH IS A GREAT SITE TO GAIN INFO )...i could name many more of my favorites...but i'd be depending on someone else's opinion....how about an alternate breed....BOYD'S COAL CHAMBER,SCH-3(son of hi jumping mikie)....this was one very entertaining dog to watch, tuff as nails and ready for business.

someone else started a thread a while back about personal protection dogs and male vs female preference.  i mentioned that i had 2 that just happened to be female.  this is one of them:
www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/pedigree/464384.html

she is an iwo daughter and serious as a heart attack.  no, she is not handler aggressive.  she is not dog aggressive or food aggressive.  she is tolerant of small animals and poultry.  infact, she is uncommonly sweet and eager to please.  we laughingly call her "petey good girl."  let a stranger come on the place and the sweetness is gone.  she is dead serious and will bite for real.  i guess i am not surprised to see that other folks have mentioned iwo as a serious dog.
