I've given a dog buffered aspirin, but never ibuprofin (my vet said it was less dangerous than Rimadyl). I feed raw myself. I think vets think homecooked or raw meats are 100% protein or something, but in fact they are 17-20% protein and that's why they're good for dogs with pano...better than high protein dogfoods.
I'm with Adi on the raw food and cottage cheese. Just remember that cottage cheese is pretty high protein...

While hoping not to start a whizzing contest, I will say that I have had quite a bit of experience with pano and have found it to be not only breed specific but very "line" specific. Call it genetic or not, if you breed dogs that had pano, you are going to get some pups with pano. If it was simply a matter of growth rate, then all fast growing dogs would suffer from it.
I've seen it last from a few weeks to a lifetime, travel around the limbs and not. Whole litters that were affected and some where only one or two pups had it. I have found it to be a very genetic based issue, no different than UAP or bad hips.

Rik, it would be extremely interesting to research pedigrees of dogs with pano and see who's in them.

I don't see it as a pissing match at all. Yes, Rik, I would be interested in that as well...
My opinion is pretty much NEVER set in stone, it's all it is, an opinion, after research, experience etc... Someone else has a different opinion and facts to back it up behind it, I will respectfully agree with it, shake hands and admit i was not correct in my view.
